My knowledge on the history of these designs are limited but I know that after World War I, the Admirality wanted to build new generation of capital ships, both battleships and battlecruisers taking into account recent development of warship construction, weaponry and technology together with war experience especially the battle of Jutland taking into account. Design of new capital ships started in late 1919 and ended when the Washington Naval treaty forbid the construction of new Capital ships with some exceptions. Among these, the final versions which were considered to be built were the G3 class battlecruisers and N3 class battleships

These ships would be large fast and heavily armed. Here I post data and if available drawings of the battlecruiser proposals of the RN after WW1:

The letters usually lack much logic but the numbers show the number of barrels per turret.
The last two rows include Vickers's own export design for Spain which would be similar to these proposals though some sources say they would be similar to the Admiral class battlecruisers.

Sadly there is no drawing survived which shows the Vickers export designs for Spain.

F2 and F3 were actually alternatives to Nelson rather than the basis (which was O3, with alternatives P3 & Q3)

The basis of Nelson & Rodney were the Cancelled N3 Battleships and G3 Battlecruisers both of which were similar in design.  Most of their design features were incorporated into the new hull designs, but using the main armament intended for the G3 Battlecruisers, due to the limitation treaty.  These new ships were given the design designation O3.
