Ban people for 1 hour if they do more than 20K team damage over 2 hours of gametime. As a warning.

Yeah, i think they should do something similar.

After repeated offences that player should get banned for a short bit. I should start with only 10-20 minutes at first and the ban time will go up if he keeps killing friendly players.

I think that would work.

Doesnt mean the game should let them do it.

They fire torpedoes recklessly whitout thinking about team mates=you get banned for a while for team damage.

I'm especially a fan of the players that 'test fire' their torpedoes.

In the spawn.

At the start of the match.

To see what they look like in the water.

tk's happen. just be glad it's generally accidental.

when it comes to torps, though, it's almost as much our responsibility to watch out for them, as it is 'theirs' to watch out for you.

torp indicators 'do' show up for friendly torps too, afterall.

They do it usually once or twice until They kill someone, then they realize it and stop.

Problem is that It's not 1000 people doing it ten times, It's 10,000 people doing it one time.(per person)

if a BB can dodge a torp bomber squadron's torps dropped @ 1k or so, then yes, a bb can dodge torps from 2k.

obviously this is variable, but it 'should' be possible, situation (terrain) dependent.

that's not to say that they shouldn't be paying more attention, they should. launching torps from 'behind' bb's is dumb. but it should be at least vaguely possible to dodge them, if you react fast enough and turn in the right direction.

DD needs a tutorial all of its own before new players can play in real games... where it stops the play and tells the player the do and donts of torps.

It can't mostly. And that is when fully aware of the danger. Nobody expects friendly ship to just torp them, so even long range friendly torps may hit.

I just t/k'ed an ally in the last battle with a torp, he sailed past me going for the same BB, I waited until he had passed and fired my salvo, 2 struck the BB and one sailed by. I thought nothing of it until my ally did a 180 and went to the other side of the BB to fire himself unfortunately he caught my lobe torpedo and sunk. Do you know what happened next? He apologised as he knew he put himself in peril by doing so and along with my apologies we had a laugh about it. These things happen, most by accident and a few through naivety, accept these things do happen but there are those that have issues and go out to do team damage, they are the ones we need to look out for.

How does this happen? I played in closed beta, and have now over 100 battles in open beta. I have never been killed by friendly torps.

The only thing a player should have to worry about is incoming enemy fire. If you fire your weapon and strike a friendly its your fault, and no-one else's. You have lax weapon control, and are a danger to yourself and others around you.

thats sounds like a pretty slow torpedeo if a battleship had the time to circle around the ship once you'd let the fish loose, what ship where you using?

anyways... when it comes to torpedoes both TB fish (when i get my arse in gear and unlock the carriers)  and my IJN cruisers the line Jingles often repeats  describes Torpedoes best

"there is no such thing as a friendly torpedo"

Absolute rubbish.

If a ship is sailing in one direction and another ship has a clear shot at the target and takes it, and the first ship then changes direction and sails in to the second ships shots, then it is that ships fault. People get fixated in zoom mode and don't look where they are going.

God forbid they ever up the damaging of ramming.

Wrong. The fault is always with the person who discharged the weapon.

"Stupid civilians walked in to my artillery zone sir, its not my fault I killed them!".

Yeah no, just does not fly. That is why there is such a thing as "rules of engagement".
