I have a love/hate relationship with my Sims. I do find it to make ok money, but it is  a MAJOR challenge to play it. It gets spotted quite easy (7.6k on water / 3.6k from the sky). Since the duration of the smokescreen is so low (20s or so?) and the small torpedo range (vs the Japanese DD's) it is really hard to play for me. But, IF and only IF, I play a match where it all comes together, this ships is great. Sadly that happens once in a blue moon though... 

 

I find that destroyer gameplay has changed in general. It has become more challenging, and more rewarding if you play it well. Only changes I'd like to see is some tweaking in either or all aspects; duration of smokescreen, preparation time for smokescreen, cooldown of repair party, torpedo range (for USN DD's), detectability of DD's from water and/or torpedo reload time (for USN DD's).

I actually like the US destroyer line currently in the Tier 5 . Compared to my Sims it makes way more money which is a little crazy considering the Sims is a prem ship.

You just have to know ranges , places to be , places to attack , when to attack , when you should shoot and when to stay silent , when to retreat.

It comes with the territory.

 

Although it can be very frustrating until you learn ...at times it can reward you nicely. It's more risk than gain but when you gain it will be awesome. If you want a consistent provider take a cruiser or BB. DD's are for people that like the risk.

My little Gremlin still works fine to be fair, I would agree that its 30-7 second 180 turret traverse can be rather annoying at times, but it appears not to have encountered any nerf.

I really like the Sims, I probably play it wrong, the torps range aren't good. But I love to see that I have hit with more then 100 shells.

 

Btw. if we could change the speed of torps we could get a range of 13km.

Sims is currently pretty much like Nicholas but worse. Its 2 tiers higher. It usually doesn't even earn more (even considering you get an appropriate result).

Comparing 1939-1940 Sims with topped 1919 Nicholas:

In Detail:

The torp reload is worse on Sims (87s vs 67s) and it has less torps to shoot from (2x4 vs 2x3+2x3). Torps have same range and dmg on both.

Arty is the same 4x127mm same RoF, same damage on both shells. But wait! Sims has 2km better range of ZERO importance.

Maneuverability : top speed: 39,1 vs 37,5 and turning radius 500m vs 600m. Sims wins this one slightly but i would trade this off any time for:

Concealment: Surface detection 7,6 vs 6,7. Air detection: 3,7 vs 3,1. 

Oh i would forget, Sims has 700 MORE hitpoints! AA? Not that it matters but Sims is worse once more.

Overall Sims combat points is 260, while topped Nicholas: 266

This would make it a decent tier 5 prem, or maybe a mediocre tier 6. But its a tier 7...

Smoke nerf+ torp range nerf make me feel ive been mugged.

I'm not buying any more premium ships in this game.

Loved the sims in CBT and now I'm not feeling it, no idea why but try as I might to do some active DD play nip in spot fire slip out of view ,harassment ect but I feel like I being spotted slot more than I remember I did in CBT and getting demolished in seconds of being spotted. Do same in the gremy and wrack up awesome damage scores, go figure!

I agree - it's awful in its current state. And I make more credits consistently playing in my Arkansas Beta (tier IV), Minekaza (tier V) and the Cleveland (tier VI). A lot more.

 

Its damage output is just ridiculously low for its tier.

 

Most likely won't buy anymore premium ships in this game ever, if the Sims is any indication of what future prem ships in the game will be like.

I think that WG should move the Sims a tier (or maybe two) down. It will perform better as a tier 6 (maybe at tier 5 it could be a little OP).

The only problem I have with the sims is the criticals. It's still somewhat fun to play, but I'm so tired of the endless crits.

 

I've lost my steering gear and / or my propulsion roughly every other time I've been hit by a volley. Several games where I've had it knocked out, only to repair it immediately and have it knocked out again by the following volley. It's absolutely crippling. 

 

It certainly doesn't play ANYTHING like it did when they first released it. And it certainly isn't worth the money. I'd ask for my money back, but I know they'll just toss some crap in my face about how I agreed to purchase and unfinished product.

I must admit I'm not liking the Sims as much as I did in CBT, I'm not sure if it's me or not, but something just doesn't feel the same.

its really annoying... and frankly very unfair to the people that bought in good faith the early adopter packages,,,, we thought we were getting some decent ships and a "thank you" for buying in early and supporting the game,,,  and then upon Open beta release we got shafted,,,,,,,,, really not a cool way to trreat your fanbase WG.... :0(

They can't.

The sims was sold as a tier VII, the price was fixed accordingly, lowering the tier of the sims would make it overpriced according to it's new tier.

 

Wg would have to offer some sort of compensation, gold i guess bu it's unlikely...

The ship is a complete waste of time as it currently stands. More often than not, you will be a) detonated, b) left without main guns or c) get Ocean and hate your life.

See this? This is me playing Sims with Main Battery Mod I. I've NEVER had that happen to me in over 1k battles between CBT and OBT. In two out of the seven matches I've played in OBT I've been been detonated with more than 8k health left. Again, that's quite the ratio given that I'm playing with Main Battery Mod I.

 

2/10, gun boat my a**.

You should have learned from WoT. Go russian, you may not be the most uber out there but you will never be disappointed.

 Hi Guys!
I have a Sims and i am verry disapointed, because i think is better than, but not. i usually play every days when i can take a break and my times its let me.
I see the next: the sims it's not a premium ship just on paper because the other ship in same Tier can do better credit influence and XP influence than.
So my summary from Sims, it is a very fast and verry controllabel ships but the incom is wrost. So what's happening when the incom whit a prem ship its bad ? 
The answer is : The player can't enjoy the battle and the game experience decreases.
I can support my post some pics. look at these!

the sims just proofed to me, what whas/is allready obvious in wot. dont buy any premiums besides russian ones. they´ll never get nerfed and most of the time they are better than their regular counterparts (murmansk and gremyashky are both best or second best in their tier), although they should perform worse, only earn better.


 

sims was completely waste of money, now in open beta, and teached me not to waste one more euro on this game.


 

i was  really looking forward to bismarck/tirpitz, but wot and now wows teached me, anything premium but "russians" will be nerfed into unusability if it is actually released viable.

Not used the SImms since CBT, to be honest I'm wondering whether there is a case to complain about it considering they nerfed it pretty hard what with the HE damage, the ROF nerf, the lack of smoke canisters.

 

Has anyone tried really pimping one out see how they do? 

 

I'm thinking speed flag, plus the premium repair parties and speed boost.  Then propulsion modifications 1 & 2, so increase you engine protection from damage and increase you acceleration.

 

Then add in the camo that makes you difficult to hit.

 

And basically forget the guns unless you need to kill enemy DDs or get to shoot at distracted targets but play it as a hit and run ship. 

 

With the flag and speed boost enabled you should be able to hit over 44 knots. Pick a target, hopefully distracted, hopefully with some cover about to approach from and behind, rush at them at top speed dodging best you can with engine boost on, launch torps from about 3km, turn away pop smoke.  

 

Hopefully at that sort of speed, with it's agility exposure time should be minimised, if you get spotted around 7.5km then you need to travel about 3-4km to launch the torps and then hopefully another 3-4km to get unspotted, if they aren't pointing their guns at you then you should be able to whether the HP loss and repeat the trick 3-4 times?

 

Just a thought, best thing SImms has left really is it's speed and agility, maximise the speed and do hit and run torp attacks.

I dont know why but all my sims battles i was FORCED to play at ocean map. Yes sims sucks now. Thats a known issue. It doesnt bring much money i make more money in my minekaze without premium or anything involved. If i with some luck get another map than ocean map i might try to play this actually. But seriously They need to do something about it.
