CA Lines

So after being a BB main for 2 years i decided to be a CA main so what line is the easiest to master and learn i would assume the American CAs cus they got great ap and HE however i think of also getting the Germans because they are tanky if you angle and have amazing AP or the Japanese or Britsh CAs cus they have god tier HE however both of them are very squishy so what line should i go first?

US heavy (Des Moines) and Russian heavy cruisers (Petropavlovsk) are generally popular lines.

US have good rate of fire (for a heavy cruiser), AP shells with improved ricochet angles and good penetration. However, they sometimes suffer on large-caliber battleships and aircraft.

Russians high tier heavies have good armor and AP with great penetration. But they lack firepower.

Both lines are suitable for ranked because of the radar.

 

Germans are OK, but they rely primarily on HE ammo. HE have good penetration (can damage the decks of battleships) and fire chance is nice. APs have good damage but otherwise are average. You can compare here:

Japanese offer good HE firepower but also require good situational awareness. They have to be angled or they suffer. Sometimes they are limited because they have good concealment and can not use it properly, when facing carriers and lot of destroyers and submarines.

 

I do not play British heavies and honestly, I do not see them often. Lot of angling and shooting HE.

 

I would start with US and Russian CAs.

That really doesnt exist anymore these days.

It only works for russian CAs, like Riga, Petro, Moskva and Stalin (last one suffers from fires tho). Every other line will just get overmatched because of all the large caliber BBs running around.

Sure you can tank something like Monty with angling properly, but you will face more than enough BBs that can overmatch you anyway. And that isnt even exclusive to german CAs anymore.

 

For ranked you want Radar to have battle impact.

I'd have to give this one to the Japanese. They will teach you all sorts of good habits that will do you in good stead while playing the others.

 

As I keep saying "if you're trying to rely on your armor in a cruiser, you are doing it wrong". The Japanese will teach you when and how to use your WASD instead.

US line to DM is solid. IJN and KM line to Zao and Hindy are pretty much kiting lines. RN are seat of your pants all the time.

Nevsky is the best by far. It's "light cruiser" but it has good armor, range, ballistics, dpm, penetration, great radar, everything you could possibly ever want except turning radius. Good second place maybe Venezia, lacks radar but can nail triangles and has the ability to disappear. Heard good things about the legendary module too. 

 

Third place, dunno. They all suck so much.

I'd say third choice would be Dutch CA. The tier-10 is great, but the grind to it is pretty bad... gives you time to get used to the airdrops though.

Based on my limited experience I would choose the Russians first (Tallinn - Petro), then the French (Cherbourg - Marseille), and so the Americans (including the premium CA Congress).
