Would you recommend WoWs ?

Somebody of my clan, asked me a few days ago if he should play WoWs. Till a few weeks ago I would have said : "YES, you should."  Now I don't know the answer anymore.

I'm playing WoWs as from the first test weekend in december 2014. And I had a lot of fun. (I want to thank you all for that). The first months I really thought that this game would become a great succes.  I have seen many balance changes. Some of them I even agree with.

At some point I got the feeling that BB's got the most buff's and everything had to make way for the gameplay of the all mighty BB's. As I don't like to play BB's, I assume I'm a litle prejudged. With update 0.4.0 the above mentioned felling became much stronger.

I know for sure that playing CA's and DD's has become a lot more difficult. With a DD you could have very good results against a lot of risk. At this point the reward isn't worth the risk anymore. A CA needs some luck to have results, and mainly it depends on how the ennemy BB's are placed. In a one to one fight a CA will (almost) never kill a BB.

It seems to me that WG is going the wrong direction with this game. I have the feeling that you have BB's , CV's and canon meat in this game.

Please share your feelings about the direction this game is going.

Surely you cant judge or recommend ANY game until its released? - we are in testing phase, graphics look great, gameplay is great, and its only going to get better.

Ofcourse you can recommend it or not. OBT is the phase for minor changes. The greater picture is set in Alpha and CBT phase. So you can recommend and judge a game on the direction the developers are taking and most important about the amount of fun you have with the game. The only thing is that you have to take into consideration that the game isn't complete yet.

Mmmh, yeah, I recommend it.  I'm a bit disappointed about some of the direction changes and so on, and there are an awful lot of obvious problems, but it's still a fun game that has a fairly hopeful future.  Not as great as I'd once hope doesn't = bad.

yes i would recommend this game, for what it is its good 8/10( in its basic form) having played 450 games  the ships are very nicely detailed,  maps are basic but good, down side are the CVs to OP and need sorting out, other than that this game has very big potential, and a lot more to come.bigger player base, and other aspects as scenarios  weather etc

Yes, I would recommend it. Although I would add that it is probably not smart anymore to start with DDs if you think that stats are important for you. Imho the changes were a little bit too harsh for the DDs. My guess is, that it had to be this way because most of the new players will start with the BB lines anyway. And it wouldnt be wise (economically)  to scare them away with "OP" DDs. I think we have seen enough of it here in the forums. And god knows what all these people have written down in their questionnairs.

Therefore still, yes. Its a great game. And more will come as we all know. At the moment I am enjoying it way more than WoT (less arti, less toxicity).

Even tho the balancing in high tiers is awkward at the moment, the answer is yes.

Especially because there are no hacks as compared to WOT and no premium ammo, which were the main reasons i stopped playing WOT.

Would i recommend the game? Yes it's fun and well it will OBT soon so why the hell not trying it out?Nothing to lose there (only hours :P:P )

as for the BB part

look at wot heavies is the most played class same might happen for BB's

untill they figured out certain cruisers are the broken :P

Time will tell how the game develops if you notice the numbers of BB's in CBT reduced after the hype for american BB's dryed off

that's my opinion though :)

I would as regardless of any issues its still solid, playable and enjoyable (and better than many broken full releases ie. Arkham Knight PC port / Total War Rome II) especially the first time people jump into PVE in the starter ships its like nothing they have played before in a Naval setting (if you can compare say Navy Field or Battleship Midway) so I wouldn't put people off because of some balancing issues at higher tiers that will no doubt change over time

Every F2P game is at least worth a try. That way you know for certain how you feel about it and don't have to take someone else's word for it.

I would not recommend it if your buddies think this is WoT with ships.

ofc

if one of my friends that I recommend it to is a cry baby, I'd recommend them to play whatever is FOTM. If not to play what they like.

I guess the OP is a cry baby.

The game is great fun.

Depends really on the person I'm recommending it too. It's not as fast paced as some people would like and it can be quite a steep learning curve (depending on the person).

I'd recommend it to people like me :B

Definite yes from my side.

While I do not agree with all devs decisions, overall I consider the game heading in the right direction and player feedback was taken into account to a much higher degree (compared to other WG titles).

Big fat NO!

Others will get to same conclusion after they spend some time in open beta :)

If it was WoT with ships it would be just NO... but its worse, so its big fat NO :P

No, I wouldn't, because it expands to fill up ALL of your free time.

I would and have recommended WoWS and in the future, for now, I still will recommend it to people.

But while i strongly recommend the game I also make very clear that it is a Beta, the game is far from finished. Still a lot of basic content is missing and a lot of balancing needs to be done.

WG is doing a good job so far, it has a very solid base to work on.

This said there are some big issues that make me sometimes worry for the future of this game.

CV balancing is way behind on the rest of the ship types is one of my biggest issues.

Also the BB's have gotten a to crucial role in my opinion.

BB's are as far as I go the only class that can really carry a team and break a team if driven by very poor players.

Almost never will a CA compensate a poor BB in his team where a BB more then compensates for a poor CA. And that is for me a big balance issue.

Now we are going to OBT.

I don't think the game is ready, but ok, if WG thinks it is who am I?

I will for sure promote the game and recommend it to everyone interested.

I would not recommend them to invest a lot of money yet. transition from OBT to going live is a soft whipe, so no reset and no gold refund like from AT to CBT and CBT to OBT.

Although I think the team working on WoWS is competent and the potential for a extreme good game is there for sure, there are also a lot of ways to completely screw it up.

With all the new OBT players flooding the game the very decebt community from the previous tests will decline day by day till the WoT standard we all hate.

A first impression is very important to bind people to the game.

Is the current content enough, and the balance problems not to big? I'm a doomsayer so I have my problems with it, but time will tell, lets hope I'm wrong.
