I have read how some matalots are looking forward to the new open beta as they can start seal clubbing. I don't think this is very nice. So what vessel will be the vessel of choice for these seal clubbers?  I ask so I will recognise them. Honest?

Every ship will do in the hands of a skilled captain.

And you cannot prevent seal clubbing once the open beta starts... it's even impossible to avoid it, as there will be masses of seals joining the game... and I don't think that I'll spare them just for being nice... nobody spared me when I joined the game.

If I wanted to go clubing with seals I would probably pick Isokaze. All of new people will flock to the slow BBs and will have no idea how to deal with destroyer, additionally I don't see newbie crusier captains being able to deal with her.

I wouldn't take it that seriously, I'd guess they were just joking.

But Isokaze, Minekaze, St. Louis and Omaha are probably examples of good low tier ships that could be used effectively against new players.

Yes I was joking as well. I note that battle wagons and carriers were considered the choice of seals. I concure that low tier IJN destroyers and U.S. cruisers would be the choice of seal clubbers.

Isokaze and Minekaze are probably the ones that will cause most pain to OBT BB crowds.

Lets make bets how many "torpedo OP" topics we will get per day once OBT starts? I say 3.

edit: the sad thing is that I actually want to get Isokaze->Minekaze and Omaha/Murmanks, because they are great ships that are fun to play... Am I a sealclubber?

Well the Myogi with the new hull is also quite good. A good player can really destroy seals with her.

Wouldn't the Umikaze be better? Smaller ship and lower tier.

I guess I might get me a Hosho (Tier IV IJN CV) for that task. I've been training for OBT for a week or two now and I guess I'm ready for seal clubbing. When I first played the Hosho, I had a kill per game rating of 0.6 or so - now it's (including the old games) up to 1.20.

And I even trained how to club the smaller seals too, not only the BB ones. :B

3? are you insane? we were having 5-6 here at CBT there will be at least 20 per day

I'm looking forward to clubbing, there will always be seals and they will always get clubbed by someone why can't it be me for once  Seriously, everyone with enough experience from cbt will be a 'seal clubber' in the opening stages of OBT, and they can't do anything about it. Would you like everyone to play worse just to not upset the new guys? Don't think that is quite fair now is it?

For my clubbing needs, I will get a Minekaze for some tech tree clubbing, a St Louis for some lower tier clubbing, perhaps a Murmansk if I feel like it, I will club hard with Gremmy off course as it's the best clubber of them all imo. I feel going USN DD's, while I enjoyed them in CBT, will not be a good choice for clubbing as most new players will probably start playing BB's and not DD's, so the USN DD role of hunting DD's would mean I would be going up against other more experienced players instead of feasting on the influx of BB players who all got a healthy appetite for fresh fish!

Well, picking on newbies is unavoidable, but it does not provide enough sport... So whenever I will see a known nick in the low tiers, I shall focus on the owner :P Doubly so if I see Arkansas. Triply so if I see Iwaki :B

Well that certainly provoked a quick reply. The question was tounge in cheek and I to look forward to the seal clubbing. I just wanted to make sure I was going to use the correct vessel. Simples.

Don't know whether he is serious, but I actually like the Pensacola as well; actually kept it all the time and came back to it while progressing to the Des Moines.

But it will not be good for seal clubbing - a tier 7 ship is too high for that purpose.

I haven't played DDs in CBT, but plan to pick up the IJN DD line, and I guess all low tier IJN DDs will serve the purpose on their respective tier.

I also always liked (and kept) the Kuma - can't understand how someone today called those 140mm the worst guns in the game (though in his case on the Tenryu)...

My Hosho and Isokaze will have nice games once the open beta hits.

Kongo will probably also be an awesome sealclub. Granted the Myogi won't be as problematic, but it doesn't really matter as the Kongo remains better and will still get tiered up against lower tiers quite often. The main problem will be the handful of DD and CV sealclubbers, but they will probably be busy killing the teammates.

Nope if I see familiar faces I know to kill them first as they are most likely the one's who don't eat a lot of fish and will be able to hurt me back

So the effect is... cancellation, as those people are also the ones that can evade torps and don't go into places where DDs rule. So the two of you spend most of the match trying to kill each other.:teethhappy:

Interesting, what are you doing in the low tiers? Seal Clubbing too? (Just kidding)

Once XVM is available it is anyway normal that seal clubbers or expirienced low tier players will first try to get the good players of the other team out, just logical anyway.

I haven't kept track, but do you know if there is already a discussion about an rating system for WoWs by the xvm community?

Yup that will most likely be the outcome, unless I say ~poi! at start of a match as that's the secret password to let the others know it's newbie hunting time and we should feast on them before deciding who can win the game that round

Me either, but just logical it will come. XVM is a factor, if someone likes it or not. Beside the stats there are other easy extras XVM brings.
