Question About Sub Event

Hello all!

I've been reading up on how the British Submarine event works, and I've been advised that the Tier 10 Thrasher for 20k Doubloons is for early access. I'm told it will appear at a later date upon full release for a reduced price.

All fine and dandy, but what I'm *really* interested in is the Victoria Cross skin. Will this also be made available for purchase later on, or is it exclusive to this British Token system never to be seen again once it's over?

Many thanks for any insight. I'm a novice to the game, and don't yet fully comprehend how things work. I've tried asking around as well as internet searches, but can't find anything on this.

Early access ships will always end up in the tech tree (usually after about two months/patches) which you can unlock for free.

These events are basically a cash grab. You can only get the first few stages of the sequential bundles for free (usually a lower tier ship of the new line, camo and bonus package for those, some random stuff) just by playing the game and have to buy enough random bundles to fill up the rest of the tokens. After you paid money to unlock all the bundles, they basically allow you to spend even more money for a ship you can get for free two months down the line.

When you say the ship becomes free via grinding later down the line, does that apply to the liveries too? I wouldn't mind grinding for that Victoria Cross skin, but the time limit looming over the Early Access mechanic is disconcerting. If it's exclusive to the EA period, it's likely I'll have to miss it :/

No one will be able to tell you about WG's plan with the event camo later. From experience, early access camos usually do not come back after the event ends. It's FOMO. :Smile_coin:

"Mofo" is rude.

FOMO is just Fear Of Missing Out, hence the marketing strategy :Smile_coin:

Cheers! So it is something dirty after all.

"Never again to be seen" is a high bar, but these early access skins are usually not available for direct purchase.

Technically, you might get some from the Distant Voyages containers (which are in the Armory right now, incidentally, as a possible way of spending the Brisbane & Matilda Kelly event tokens), but you have no guarantee to drop one you fancy. For instance, you can't just buy the Gold Eagle skin for the Vermont, which was in the early access bundles when the line came out, but you might find it in one of the containers.

The thing is, the event only allows you to buy about a dozen containers if you grind all the missions...and each container has a 50% chance of dropping a camo...and there are 300 camos...and the Tier 10 ones are in the rare subgroup :Smile_sceptic:

TL; DR: probably practically no, it won't be available for purchase later on.

That'll prolly be available later on as well, but it'll always be for doubloons.

The skin is a pixel fantasy. Why spend money on something that may come later on? Just my view anyhow? And to me, camo's and skins are utterly pointless in the game. WG have devalued them to the point they're worthless, despite having fancy names and appearances, and I never take notice of either skins or camo's ingame anyhow.

That's more than fair, I'd be fooling myself if I said your view wasn't shared by the majority ^^

But personally, rare or unique cosmetics are a huge thing for me. There was another game I really enjoyed that's since been shut down called "Fractured Space", they once ran a promotion with Intel. If you were in Asia and purchased and Intel computer chip, you'd get a code for a unique skin.

I'm in the UK and wanted the skin. So I used a VPN, went to an Asian retailer, and bought the computer chip using a browser translation plugin. I also had a courier ship it here to the UK. When it arrived I took the code out of the box, and resold the unused chip on eBay. All in all, I was out just £10 GBP.

So needless to say, I'm a sucker for visuals. I'd really rather grind for them, but if there's a financial price *and* an element of exclusivity, in a heartbeat I would at least consider a purchase.
