There are more than one point in the video......but he notes that the (mindless) flooding with new ships and the reliance on gimmickery is detrimental to the game. And points out the bleeding of players..

Mountbatton is basically the tarot card reader of WoWs, he usually lacks solid evidence or expertise, but always drops something with a grain of truth and general statement most people can identify with.

NA (and the US generally speaking) is very much a different world and mentality.

Oh, he had some videos on this subject, mainly about the outliers  (FDR, RU ones) but he always is a "kinda" guy...:)

To be fair, I think you know the majority of the world operates on popular opinion rather than fact. Hence why we have the use of so many halfwit celebrities to sell products that don't work, spin charity stories about giving money when they themselves sit in mansions and only give stuff away in plain sight so as to be seen to be 'charitable', politicians lying to us all the time, WG giving us 'free' stuff, businesses and banks robbing us blind, green taxes to help 'save the world', and so on.

 

All you need is for a few fairly influential people to start feeling disillusioned with the game, talking about it, spreading bad publicity, etc and one day when someone has a bad day or two in the game they start forming their own negative feelings and begin finding identity with those who are already disillusioned. We all tend to read and believe stories that agree with our own point of view and dismiss those that don't. WG are already seen as untrustworthy in many hearts and minds on this forum, and forumites are likely the most vocal in the game and can easily spread their negativity one way or the other in-game.

 

One of the problems we face is we expect WG to approach their business with some form of morality or an abundance of ethics. They will only ever do the bare minimum, will always only choose the option which produces more cash, and will only ever react when faced with significant player revolt, because this directly impacts their income. They also bank on us having extremely short memories, which in my case is not true. I am well aware this game may go one day soon or change dramatically to something I no longer enjoy playing, and I must therefore be prepared to move on. WG are not our friends, despite the almost sincere efforts of the community team, they're a business and we're only wallets.

That's a good write up. But also to be fair, people are not disillusioned 'with the game". People are disillusioned with WG's ability and more importantly willingness to maintain the game's "health". And that's a and the big problem.

 

And yes, you are correct, WG is a company and as such is entitled to earn money. Coz that's what companies do after all. But the problem is a LOT of decisions they made simply don't make sense from a business pov. Like spending 3 years on the development of a class, which actually hamper the development of the business. While outright refusing to address long standing issues of the game. Like Cv's ability to spot. Cv's drove away more players than they ever attracted. Cv's simply cannot be defended with valid arguments, neither from players perspective and not  even from game design perspective. Also remember, we had to fight and for years for WG to return operations and even when they did, it happened in a way that stripped them off many of their appeals.

 

I'm sorry but WG simply doesn't understand its player base, his game, the gamer culture, has no common language with it and by booting of his most capable CC's  (and before NOT listening to them) stripped itself even of the possibility to address that issue. This is deeply rooted in the mindset, the culture and subsequently the legacy of the URSS.
