Random Bundles

I just sank 12,000 doubloons in an attempt to get the Alliance submarine - The ultimate sub griefer's ship, with everlasting homing torps.  I though there was some sort of progression but as I gambled I realised the probable cost was higher than I want to pay.  WoWS Random Bundles are robbery plain and simple.  The only winning move is not to play.  Change my mind.

A T8 premium ship costs around 8k doubloons with the 25% discount coupon. Maybe just wait until it’s in Armoury?

Don’t buy random bundles unless you are willing to buy ALL of them, anything less is just a discount.

Yeah mate but you're not new in this game so you should know better. It's not the first time you see it right?

@SurfaceFish, @KillStealBoss, you're not wrong.  I just got hypnotised by the idea of a submarine whose torps can track a target through a 360° turn.

Well, WG knows how to convince people to spend cash on those things.

I think only time done a random bundle was where had kuznetzov commander and already had him so the compensation was more then the bundle price in doubloons.

not sure how people not figured this one out yet.

I check the first bundle and if not what want then ignore, which is the usual case.

I don't even go into the Armory anymore apart from once a month to buy combat flags with discount. Not even collecting those free daily random rewards in Armory.

It's like a credit card benefits, best way to not over spend is not play thier game.

That bait gif would seem appropriate right about now.

Either for the thread or, on the other hand, WG baiting people with ultimate griefer ships in RNG loot boxes. :Smile_trollface:

Maybe Flamu ist actually a secret WG employee.

The thing that makes these random bundles really terrible is that the only thing that may (or sometimes even may not) be worth anything is the top price. All the intermediary prices are pretty crappy. This is completely opposite to the bundle chains, which more often than not have a very good value for money.

No problem just throw more money at WG for the next fresh pixel boat on the month.

Won't try to change your mind; there are basically two practical options besides not participating (which is what I'm doing with the current one; I'll almost certainly get Alliance from a Satan Box at Christmas, if WG haven't succeeded in driving me away entirely by then, whether I want her or not):

  • You get the 'big prize' (whatever it is - Alliance in the current example) in the first bundle, in which case it might be worth getting. YMMV of course.
  • If you have the money spare, assume you'll have to buy all the bundles and calculate value accordingly.

It's also worth noting that it appears (to me, anyway) that WG are currently in the process of dialling back the value in things like this (cf the rewards in successive Battle Passes) to see what they can get away with, so it's a good general policy to check any kind of multi-stage offer in the game before opening wallet to check the most current value proposition i.e. don't assume that because the last one may have been worthwhile for you that the new one will be as well.
