What is your PPS :Smile_playing: (personal play style) for WoWS in 2023?

For me, it is randomly determining a tier ship from T1 (rare) to T10 (fairly rare). I pretty much only play random battles, mainly solo tho I prefer to division if someone on contacts is willing.

I do not play Superships (I simply refuse to play a completely made up tier).

I only have :etc_swear: reworked CVs (just T4s) on my alt NA account (won't disclose the reason :Smile_trollface:).

I only have two  :etc_swear:T6 Subs here :Smile_facepalm: (just to try them out, really). I recall that 'Serb guy' infamously said WoWS would never have Subs.

I have just one Campaign to finish here on my WoWS main account.

Do I play missions? Not specifically (usually) unless there's some unique reward I'd like to obtain.

Do I play that much compared to earlier years? LOL. With all the, imo, garbage changes to WoWS ever since the great CV re-wreak, you are kidding, right?

Do I give money :cap_money: to WG now? LOL. The only thing I'd give money to WG for now is if they finally offered a dedicated clan flag slot for sale (but they have refused this for so long we can forget that).

Hence, I play minimally now & completely for free (FTP) tho I do try to contribute to my clan in Naval Battles.

The new, imo, garbage gimmick tech trees? LOL. Only if there's a lower tier historical ship there - I'll collect those.

Even though there's fewer players playing there, the low/mid tiers & lower tiers are a lot of fun since the  :etc_swear: atrocious reworked CVs & the  :etc_swear:abominable Subs are not there :cap_like: at all.

Also, there's a number of forumites who are very enjoyable to read their commentaries (even tho  :etc_swear: WoWS management, it appears) ignores these intelligent commentators entirely :Smile_Default:.

You are a perfect reason why WG doesnt care about the gameplay anymore. Beacoue they cant milk the money from the old players, old players dont need to buy anything, while on the other hand new players buy a lot of things.

Old player see subs and says they are bad.

New player see subs and says, hey its fun.

They are targeting new milking cows not old cows who dont have milk anymore.

exactly and it works really well for WG too.

Why please people who can only moan and cry while at the same time sticking around in both the game and forums? And some of them even still spend money regardless because "wallets closed! But which containers is worth the most this Christmas?"

There are still plenty of us old geezers who still spend money on the game, and will happily do so provided it seems like a worthwhile bargain. We just don't want to be led by the nose.

I play PVE and Operations, mostly... usually ships between Tiers V and IX. Superships have little appeal, as do Submarines, but I'm up for whatever else WG can think of. Recent acquisitions include Hampshire, San Diego, Aquila, Hector (all v.good), Napoli (hilarious), with the Alvaro / Yolo Emilio to come soon.

as a player that has all tech tree ships what can I spend money on? nothing.

Only worth spending some money on is santa containers, which I can get some rare ships that I dont have and thats it. and yeah black friday if you like the ships, but lately they are bad.

Glib summary: play less and pay less!

There's still fun to be had, in Coop and submarine-free modes, but as the latter become fewer in number, I'll eventually be pushed out. This is not conducive to spending the money I used to.

On the up-side, playing submarine-free modes (and Ops effectively moving to T8) has resulted in a significant shift in the ships I'm playing, which has freshened things up a bit.

Most days my PPS is that I log in, stare at the port screen for a minute, log out and head for the forums where the fun is. :cap_yes:

The most time I spend on this game is watching Flamu ... then I start the client, click the daily shipment reward and that's it most of the days. I do play a few ranked games here and there. I have even given up on my goal to get all silver T10 DDs. The gameplay has degraded that much ...

I play exclusively Co-Op and Randoms battles (and temporary modes like brawl and others when they are available) on T5 to T10 ships. Played a few ranked battles when i started out, lost, got insulted in chat and in private messages, and decided it wasn't worth it. I only have three T4 ships that i don't play much since i noticed that most missions require you to play at least at T5 in order to get the rewards, and so there is no real reason to play lower tiers unless you hate submarines so much that you want to be sure that you never meet them in battle. I don't own a single supership because  i read on the forums that unless you are able to perform really well with them they are gonna cost you more credits in maintenance fees than what you can earn from the battle, and i don't want to play ships that makes me lose credits. I play mostly Battleships and Cruisers. I have some Destroyers but i'm not confident enough to play them outside of Co-Op yet because i know how important Destroyers are and i don't wanna be that moron that get sunk like an idiot at the start and leave the team without spotting. I also tried to play Submarines and Carriers (in Co-Op) because everyone was complaining about how broken they are, and i found out that i'm absolutely terrible with them. I can't hit crap with Carriers (almost always miss the target), and when i play Submarines in Co-op... usually i hit a ship with a torpedo salvo without sinking it (unless it's a DD), and then the game ends before i get to fire a second time because the stupid bots get obliterated by the rest of the team super fast, so there's not enough time to really engage them.

Right now i'm satisfied with the game despite being only average at best (52% win ratio). Yes, sometimes it's very frustrating when you happen to be on the losing side of one of those completely one sided games. Even more frustrating when it happens four or five times in a row. But the opposite is also true and there are times when i have really good and fun battles, so overall i can't complain.

Why haven't you tried the operations? No subs there, the only thing maybe is that don't equip any boosters because with ops.... the results may not always be what you expected.

True, playing below T5 is pointless if you want to do the missions so that leaves with a couple of options. Either tell yourself 'screw the missions' and play what you want. Or do some warm up battles below T5 before starting your 'mission run', or use them for 'cooling down' before logging out. The gameplay on these lower tiers is different, and sometimes more rewarding, depending on individual preferences.

I did play a lot of operations before the rework, back when they were relatively easy to complete. Got all the rewards in all of them (except those which were unavailable at the time of course). After the rework they became a lot harder (or at least that is my impression) and i haven't been able to win a single one (i'm a solo player, so the only option available to me is the "pick a random op with a random squad and hope for the best" one). I do plan to try again in the future though.

Also, i do not hate submarines. I was just saying that, in my mind, one of the biggest reasons to play lower tiers is to avoid subs if you happen to be someone who really hates them, because there is not much there in terms of rewards. Of course, one can always play T1 to T4 for fun, there's nothing wrong with that. ^^

Interesting, for me currently pretty much the only ships I may like to play above T8 are the Yamato class BB's, the Japanese DD's, and the Swedish DD's. I actually prefer tiers 4 to 6 over the high tiers otherwise. Tiers 6 to 8 for me are pretty exclusively ops only.

With addition of two t7s - Atlanta and Scharnhorst -  the most pleasant for me are 8-10. Almost exclusively Cruisers, with a sprinkle of BBs recently (secondary oriented) and a DD or two.

To each his own, I guess

Couple of co op games as yolo DD to warm up. Then some operations either solo or get carried by Lup3s and DFens :Smile_veryhappy:!

Only play randoms for naval battles and clan battle when needed. Don't need steel that badly to play Ranked.

The game is much more enjoyable if you ignore the hord of missions WG throw at you and just play for giggles when ships explodes.

That got me thinking... exactly when did we start to have those missions? We didn't have those at the start, did we?

We definitely had missions when i started in 2016. Basically the first i remember was the ARP missions to get the Myoko/Kongo clones and Takao. Before that - no idea.

I'm not old enough to remember lol!

But it was just daily missions and 3 daily containers, then there are the campaigns. I could be wrong, think it was after 1st dockyard event Xmas 2019, and the introduction of community tokens?

I remember those, I think, but I can't remember 2015 even though I should.

So, basically back then we didn't need to bring a long a notepad to write down all the various and contradictory mission orders we now keep having on a constantly shifting basis. This is starting to feel like too much work and too much of a wargame chaotic campaign simulation.

Best to ignore all the mission orders, mark them "Attn of: Admiral John Smith" and get them out of your hands.:cap_tea:

At the start I got some ship(s) for being a Beta tester, then it was "if you play on a certain date you'll get a candy" or something, but yes the event for Southern and Eastern Dragons was the first I remember.

I play randoms mostly, only solo, tiers 5 to 10, most played ships (and most successful / enjoyable for me) are still DDs despite of subs appearance. CVs I do play sometimes, when I'm too tired to think. Subs  I had a go, grinded both lines to tier X but never bought any tier X to play, don't enjoy the style that much and pings are irritating regardless of the side I'm on (I-56 is so-so, never used pings or guided torps on her). Atm I have 18 tier IXs left to grind plus any incoming new lines, so I might say I'm at the end of my grinding journey :) I do own vast majority of premiums, so not spending much at all, maybe on dubs if I'm short for BP (and if I buy it at all) and Xmas events. Still enjoy the game despite many frustrating moments, it's the only game I play and I'm a bit of a naval history nut, so there it is.
