Ship: Charles Martel

It doesn't happen in EVERY game but I assume it's just because in those instances it's another poor sod that's on the receiving end. Would it be too much to ask to code in a bit of dispersion for the AP bombers in Hermes?

Edit: that was with the scouts succesfully shot down

Hermes has HE Bombs and doesn't usually meet Charles Martels... I suggest you get your CV classes straight first.

I think the OP is talking about playing Charles Martrl in the Hermes Operation...

Ah yeah that would explain it. I was thinking he maybe was referring to Maltas OP AP bombs...

Funny think about Hermes.

You know that first scout  squadron that comes from the left?

Sometimes the last plane in that squad is invincible. I have seen it fly away despite all ships firing at it (2 of them with def AA) plus one ship fighter and my CV fighter glued to it.

Then the Luftwafe  can have some fun with the poor ships with no AA.

Fighters are more or less useless (they might target one squad or not even that).

HERMES requires some teaking, but WG doesn't want to hear about it.

The last AI charge (the dds) shoud be reworked. I hate the idea of playing 20 minutes only to loose in the last minute due to some potatoes who do not understand that they have to protect the Alsace is dumb.

One of the reasons I tend to use Cleveland for random ops.

If Hermes drops

  • Half decent AA that has a good chance of dealing with the first scout squadron & helps mitigate some of the air dropped damage later on
  • Hydro for spotting torps or DDs concealed on smoke
  • Radar for spotting DDs in smoke
  • High DPM for whittling down DDs

I just think that scout mechanic is really silly as it's so dependent on what ships spawns in what place AA wise, as you dont have the time to move around if the wrong ships with weak short range AA or AFK/slow loading are on that flank the mission is almost domed from the started and the rest of the team have very little ability to do anything to help...?

That or make the scout fly over the entire group of ships?

... and then you get reported because your AA cruiser dared to cut across the bow of a team mate whilst trying to get into AA range. :Smile_sceptic:

Yes the scout part of the mission, that it is so binary pass/fail and early and unexplained really makes it hard for anybody who has not memorized the operation to actually be successful..... (and even then and random spawn dominated...)

Fun fact, the screenshot was from a game in which the scouts were shot down succesfully, added that to the OP
