Chatbans and you.

How often are you chatbanned?

145 members have voted

  1. 1. How often are you chatbanned?

    • Never! If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all.
      59
    • It happens rarely, once or twice a year, a few days or at most weeks per year.
      37
    • Once every couple of months for a week or so.
      18
    • Every month, quite often.
      11
    • When am I NOT chatbanned?
      20
  2. 2. Of those that picked options 1 (never) or 2 (rarely), do you regularly communicate using text in games?

    • Almost every game when there's something to say to add and I'm not on a voice chat with the majority of players.
      23
    • Now and then, at least every couple of games.
      25
    • Rarely if ever. If I'm communicating I stick to pings and chat commands.

Never chatbanned and voted "every now and then" to the second question, although my behaviour actually lays somewhere between the first and second options: almost silent when in BBs and non-utility (i.e. bad concealment, no radar, no RPF) cruisers, more talkative in either DDs or as close support. The game modes also affect how much I engage in chat, with domination at the top and arms race at the bottom.

edut: Appreciate you including the words in the edit ;). Cant believe its Sh1t. Thats probably what gets me the majority of flagging, I use that word in a completely inoffensive way, often saying "Sh1t I messed up". Bleeeh they really should think about this and how it alienates the playerbase.

If I were to be chatbanned, that would probably be the trigger. I tend to use it for venting self-deprecation when making blatant mistakes. Sometimes such a valve isn't enough, but at least it's more polite than liberating pressure Rocco style.

Salute.

Probably requires reports then as well, so if you're being reported for your playstyle and then happen to say it maybe that's what triggers it. Or Europizza is just talking out of that thing where the thing we're talking about comes. lol

After every chatban I tell myself to shut up and don't use profanity in chat anymore. But then I see the quality of some players which lose me the game when I fought hard and well and just for the life of me I cannot hold it together.

They need to remove this childish ban in chat.
As long as you don't verbally insult another player you should be able to say whatever you want.

When I was playing the game normally, grinding out lines, I got the odd chatban here and there. There are some players who need to be told what species they actually belong to and I'm perfectly willing to endure a chatban of any length to dispense such information when necessary. Now that subs and supershits are in the game, I only show up to redeem snowflakes in co-op. Because so many vermin are present these days (you can tell because they play subs and supershits), I usually go about a day between chatbans when I play now.

I'll use in game chat up until TIer 7.  After that it seems to become a crap show and needs ignored.

Depends on the situation. Also good luck using it playing T5 in a T4-5 battle. Almost no one understands why you're even talking to them and what you're even saying.

On high tiers it's also useful , again depending on situation. Some players do share useful info too.

Which is the reason you get such ban. Especially the one that is 3 days and longer that was reviewed by the support team.

I used to be perma chatbanned. Until I got older and figured that you can insult people without swearing. Now it's been an almost a month that I haven't been banned and I was quite talkative lately in chat.

With todays neanderthal player base, you simply haven't lived until you've had your first chat ban.

By the time you've reached your 10 to 12th chat ban, you're seen as a master and will be considered for a seat at the high council.

Thirty + chat bans? Heard stories about this one person, but no one has really seen them though. Might just be a fanciful myth but we all need our heroes, right?

Hard to tell how many I got. I didn't count them. Especially back in 2019 and 2020, those 2 years I got a lot. In 2019 I was getting one chatban per month. Seriously. A few 3 day ones, then a few 7 days, few 10 day ones, a 14 days and 20 day one. It went down a bit in 2020. But still it was like 5-6 in that year. Last 2 years I got maybe 4-5 of them. Before 2019 I don't remember the numbers, that's why I can't tell you, but overall I think I passed the 30+ . That's due sure. Cause between 2016 and 2019 I think I got more than 10 of these. But back then I remember that was getting mostly 1 day chatbans and maybe a few 3 day ones. The 1 day chatbans were given by automated system, not by support review.

So yeah, I'm that 30+ chatbans dinosaur you're talking about. :cap_haloween:

The joke here is that I indeed said bad things earlier (at least I am pretty sure I did) but despite opening/forwarding like 3 tickets I never got in touch with a human at the customer support, that could actually provide logs why I have been chatbanned. It was always an automated response, picking my last chat interaction (gl hf) as a reason and then it closed the ticket.

The more you know.

You should asked a CM in forum via PM. Once I wasn't sure why I was chatbanned and Yabbacoe quoted it to me.

I probably would not notice a chatban because I don't see a benefit in using chat except for greeting the occasional forumite, which can be done via F-keys (Are those also defunct during a ban? I have no idea.). The people who know what they are doing don't need me to tell them in chat, and those who don't won't understand or comply anyway.

Depends how many times you use them, if you spam commands all battle and someone will send the replay, 3 days of chatban might be given to you. But that should be a really excessive use.

Chatbans are a badge of honor!

The people who make matches unplayable for their team usually report for chat.

When you are a decent human being you should be quickly out of reports for AFKs, submarines, useless parasites etc.

I only chat reported people who defended griefers for enouraging the griefing.

But to err on the side of caution, I'd avoid the use of "disco" entirely, maybe it's the other way around.

For your guidance: here is a video showcasing the only proper way of using the word disco...

This!
I understand that a good portion of players is trash tier in this game and this would be fine, but it happens way too often that they actually are not just bad but actively sabotage the game in one way or another. This type of player makes it impossible to carry them and thus wasting my time and resources. I don't understand why this type of griefing and sabotaging is considered okay, but complaining about these people is not okay - even worse, they sabotage and throw games and still have the power to report you and get you chat banned.

I got you on forum ignore. So there's that :D

I used to get banned for months. I stopped using some specific swear words, now I'm never banned. It took me 2 years to learn what words to avoid, because Lesta and WG never told me what to avoid with the ban message. Turns out avoiding 3 key words = eternal ban vs. never ban. It's pretty random even.

The words are 1D 10T, M 0R0N and Sh1 T. Just for reference and educational purposes. I'll probably get a forum ban now because WG is gonna WG and Lesta is gonna Lesta.

I'm fairly certain "sky[abnormal-cellgrowth-disease]" just got me 10 days of chatban :D

or maybe they have added "skyrats" into the ban dictionary.

It will just be the zodiac sign itself that's on the list. Avoid that type of words and you can probably call the skypopulus whatever you fancy.

Also I take note that as an OP I know you guys cant keep your itchy fingers in check and are clicking on the second vote options even though you picked the something else than 1 or 2 because that option was added way later and there aren't enough votes in 1 and 2.

And I want to tell you all:

I already had a 30 day chatban for circumventing the chatfilter. This again proves that the system is total BS, because I usually give "very honest" comments either to griefers or people who encourage griefing. That stupid chatban system enables them to double-grief people in-game and post-game. It's pretty similar to the submarines, the supernoob-ships and certain new lines pushing the game even more in the wrong direction.
