Enemy submarine spotted !!!

The dude yells like the sub is beneath me, in panic you look at the minimap and you see the subs is on the other part of the map, 30 km away!!

Like wtf is the point of this warning? I could understand if the sub is in the ASW range, but on the other side of the map?? Is she going to come to me at warp speed and shoot me? This alert needs to be removed or modified to be used only when in ASW range.

We're talking about "The Mighty Jingles" Voiceover I assume? If so: That's a feature and was a thing before subs got introduced as this (former CC) mis-identified ships and classes quite frequently.

Well maybe if you're inside the sub's torpedo range maybe.

Or, if it's surfaced / periscope depth then your main gun range.

Even though I have (the notoriously inaccurate) Jingles as my default voiceover, I still get worried when he "spots sub". :fish_nerv:

Doesn't the voiceover do something similar when more or less anything is spotted? Obviously, if it's Jingles as voiceover the 'what' is probably inaccurate of course, but don't other captains do it too?

(Can't remember what my voiceover settings are; whatever gives you the voice for each specific captain, on that captain only.)

I dont use any voice mods, normal sounds.

don't see it as warning but as information maybe? Knowing that you don't have to care about such a thread right now can also be important...

I'd rather take it as a shock: "there ARE submarines in this game????!"

This happens not only with subs. "Enemy cruiser spotted" - cruiser popped up in the southwest while my little self sailed onwards in the northeast area.

I find it to be helpful when a general call-out comes in for when (especially hard to find) ships are at least initially detected. Gives you an idea what to expect in your immediate area.

And I for one do wanna know where an enemy sub is, even if it is just to rule out I have to expect incoming torpedoes from out of nowhere.
