[SFSO] Ymustihaveaname Players 362 posts 14,119 battles Report post #1 Posted January 28 I just played my first games on PTS and this just made me think about how hard it would be for a new player to play with? The lack of all the nice information I take for granted not even mod station or Aslain, just going into setting to add health bars and make ships names show up or even just pressing + to make the mini map larger? How many players are playing without these quality of life tools that are in the game and make it so much easier to play? Are they on by default in the normal game, and could some of them not just be to make it easier and have people opt out of a large mini map?

Yes but probably not with default mini map size and "alternative interface mode" ie the heath bars turned off? Im more thinking just the default setting in the game, not actual mods are not set to the easiest to play?

When I first started playing, I first looked up controls on the wiki and how I could work with them. Yes, I'm one of those guys who actually read the manual first.

People who don't bother with that don't care about playing well anyway.
Panocek Players 13,176 posts 13,617 battles Report post #6 Posted January 29 Also odds are, if you were to overload interface with useless garbage like, I dunno, minimap, ship names with health bars, let alone introduce some features from mods like team hp bars, odds are, you'd get complaints about "what is this MMO interface doing in my boat game" and people would actively look out to disable these

Real ships don't have any friggin sea charts, plotting tables or something.

I entertain a fetish for flashing lights, knobs and dials, like on stereo systems and television sets and radios. I'd love a more fetish oriented UI.

It would just be fascinating to know a break-down of %wr and mini map size and other features like "alternative interface mode", WG almost certainly has the numbers by default even if they are unlikely to release them. How many people are held back by simply not know what ship they are fighting as they dont get a nice easy name above it telling the ship type but have to look and work it out by what it looks like?
