Why are so many ships restricted in the next CB?

Yeah we haven't seen CVs in a while. My mountain of salt needs more salt, darnit!

Approach practice differently. You don't need to have battles on them with the same layout to "practice".

Go into the map and check out positions of interest for your BBs first. You do that by positioning your BB to different spots and see where the shots can actually reach and from which angles that BB can in return be threatened. As for cruisers nothing at all changes, you put them to the same relevant positions as you would usually, same for DDs. Depending on your strats you have different points of interest on the maps. If you are the FC you can go into training room alone, scout the maps out or you can go to a clan with more experienced FCs and ask for their help and opinion. But honestly playing the map within the clan or against other clans doesn't teach you positioning it just opens more questions than it answers. Don't practice the wrong way.

I've done that already (the map scouting) but we're practicing with another clan, to find out team composition. 

We also tried 6DDs and a Schlieffen...  which worked very very well... somehow.

You can test on the PTS if you really wish to do so - that option is available.
Otherwise yes you will need to wait for 12.1 to hit the live servers.

Well, installing a whole new game-instance is kinda... eh... too much. 

I guess we'll ride it out until then.
