two cruisers, both with smoke
what could be the differences?
it's all about comfort
Has anyone played these two ships? what impressions?

That statement alone tells me you need to go and look at the ships gameplay and decide if you like it.

Us saying one is better means nothing if you have no clue how to play them.

Just a quick one: Hector lives and dies by it’s smoke, Gibraltar rarely finds a good use for it.

Honestly I wouldn't buy either of them.
WG has made both of them have glaring weaknesses, while not providing enough of the strong upsides they need.

Having recently had the RB points to spare, I bought Hector. It's a unique light cruiser, both from a design and gameplay POV, and has a full RN CL toolkit. The heal is disappointing, but the ship's design makes it less prone to taking catastrophic citadel hits than Gibraltar, which (I am told) is almost Albemarle-like in its ability to take massive cit damage. I've also read comments about Gib which make it sound like a min/max version of Goliath - and I'm not sure that's worth the effort of collecting all those RB points.

I like Gibraltar very much, but then, I also like Druid, incidentally both ships I can make work.

What makes it so fun is the acceleration, it's a heavy cruiser with the dancing shoes of a light cruiser. Armor is decent, you can bounce a lot if you angle right at short ranges, you can dodge a lot at long ranges (not Colbert amounts of dodge!). At medium ranges BBs hurt. The stern is a giant citadel. But that acceleration - Colbert with engine mod is sluggish after you played Gibraltar...

Hector sounds enticing untill you notice it's tier 9 which is the new crap tier, getting shafted by supershits. Alone for that reason I'd abstain from getting it, so, no, I don't have it either.

Basically these ships can't be compared, with smoke firing penalty which is about equal to the Hectors concealment, they do entirely different things and let me make it entirely clear - I cannot recommend the ship to anyone. Like Druid, it just clicks with me and I can make it work, but this is highly subjective. Gibraltar is one of the least played ships at tier 10 and is generally considered to be the worst RB pick. Due dilligence would be at least watching some youtube videos (or the replays I posted in the other thread).

I already have 4 ships for RB points, now I have to choose from the worst
