[KKDR] webaake Players 302 posts Report post #1 Posted January 6 Me: Wich ship to use? BB! Me: What bonus cards? Me: I hope I get a good map and a good spawn point. Me: I hope I get nice MM too! WG: No If you don't have plenty of bonus cards you have to choose carefully which to use, and when. But it's a gamble like roulette. Last year WG implemented the bonus card exchange system, which was good. But then WG took it away again. WG, you CAN implement things that are fun and functional for the players. WG, you have already taken the development costs and you have the code for it. WG, you CAN have a happy and interested player base! And make money too! Or WG, you can sit on Cyprus and collect the money. Which will dwindle. WG, why not start a pure gambling and betting company? I hear the taxes on Cyprus are low. Or WG, you can develop the game into the future greatest game with the happiest player base and with the greatest earnings for you. You CAN do it! You have the potential for it. WG, what's your choice? (Rethorical) 1
[S-N-W] LukkaiCH [S-N-W] Players 547 posts 13,817 battles Report post #2 Posted January 7 You do remember that WG said from the start and kept on repeating that the exchange system would only be in place for a limited time (and how long it would be in place). And only because upon the rework, players would automatically get as many big bonuses as possible from what they had in stock on eco signal flags and consumable camos. The exchange system only there so that people could adjust their initial stock. Just as a pretext. I've read way too many "Why can't I suddenly not exchange my bonuses anymore? WG never said that we couldn't!" messages over the last few months to leave that without mention. Now as for this being "roulette". No more and no less than it was before the rework. Bad luck and you would end up pretty much waste the set of bonuses you chose. And before the rework, you had far less ways to adjust things and leave out what you don't want, since the camos and several of the special signal flags had mixed bonuses that you had to take all or none. Now you can decide that you only need commander xp on this run and leave out the rest. Or only credits, only ship xp or a combination.Thing is you now get to choose much more precisely what to take with you. There wasn't any kind of exchange option back then either. So if anything, the situation has improved. And to go back to the roulette comparison: You're wrong. Because even with bad luck, you still have influence on things in WoWs (except maybe in coop, which can be over so quickly that a slow ship and/or two or three bad rolls on the RNG dice may mean you leave pretty much emptyhanded). If anything, poker would be a better way to put it. Where luck is definitely a factor, but skill will get you a long way. That all being said, would it be possible to reintroduce the exchange system for larger bonuses to smaller ones? Definitely yes, probably without much of a problem. Would it be nice for the players to get that kind of flexibility for their inventory? Also yes. But maybe if you want that change, propose it in a positive way. Not by being all controversial and, quite honestly, rather insulting and demeaning about it. People tend to listen more closely if you don't cross them from the get-go. 2
[H_FAN] Gnirf Players 3,293 posts 67,362 battles Report post #3 Posted January 7 The possibilty to exchange in both directions would be appriciated - I have found that grey bonuses accumulates very fast and some types are also better used in higher XP, but I would probably then made more blue level over all from both above (red) and below (green) as I tend to use none or a higher one. If you have many bonuses the RNG evens out psychologically you will get more good and bad games. Credits I tend to use high on Battleships only as the performances are more even there, seldom totally catastrophic but not so often fantastic either. DDs in random I tend to play more like cap/spot with stealty torp DDs so it is more hit or miss nature so cowardly use of flags there. I guess it is who you are as a person - do you remain calm if you have a couple of bad games? If you do , you can as well play with high bonuses that evens out in long run. I would welcome an exchange system, even if it takes place a few times a year on special weekends.
Karkong_the_Impaler Players 2,983 posts Report post #4 Posted January 7 Just use the bonus and do not care. You win on average as you did before, you get dealt trash teams on average as before, it all averages out. If you're a good player, you can make more use of it, sure, but that shouldn't come as a surprise. I personally use them from top to bottom untill they're gone. I don't put +free exp and +captain exp thingys on ships I suck with.
