[NLD] Genie_of_the_Lamp Players 160 posts 37,001 battles Report post #1 Posted December 30, 2022 Just had a match Was in a cruiser t6 and it was a T8 match. There is nothing wrong with that. But I was on one flank with a t7 dd and a t7 BB. That means 3 ships in total. WG system had "balanced this" Normally I expect the same amount on the opposite side. But we got slaugthered quickly because on that flank they had.. 1 sub taking the cap One T8 CV behind a hill behind that cap One T7 cruiser 2 Tier 8 BB's Tirpitz and a NC 1 T7 DD and....not but no least they had the cover of that part of the map waiting behind each corner. Entering a cap zone at that point is just suicide, which also occured with our brave dd that tried hard to take that cap. What the hell is this?? Is this balance??? Is it too difficult to place equal HP potential or firepower against eachtother on a map? And oh yes There is one factor that could cause this imbalance. That is that they always place divisions in one group. So when you have a division with 3 Tier 8 BB s in a T8 match. A div of 3 DD is also totally disadvantaged; because other flanks have no eyes. And ther get nailed for that A group of 3 DD s should never be put together on one flank because "its a division" WG should therefor release this principe in order to get a better ingame balance

Estaca_de_Bares Players 1,534 posts 25,837 battles Report post #3 Posted December 30, 2022 Are you really asking for balancing the fog of war? Because the situation you're describing is precisely that. Once the game starts, for around 2 minutes neither side "knows" (there may be hints about it, though) what the other team is doing or where its members are going. If the reds had decided -either by chat, individual pre-planning (some people would've gone there no matter their spawn), herd mentality or any other reason- to (relatively) sail en masse towards your flank in order to win it, bad luck. As ColonelPete said, if you wish for others to evaluate what happened, you should provide the replay. Regarding the effects of single-class divisions (and the DD ones in particular), the sentiment is shared by many, but again it's up to the players to do the right thing and spread. MM puts them nearby out of the principle of "they decided to play together so they should spawn together", which is a very sensible one-size-fits-all rule. Adding caveats to it... I guess some people would be strongly for it, at least until they get the short end of the stick. Salute. P.S.: Although it got muddier after the CV rework (and divisions also mess with it), assume finding in front of you either the tier composition of your flank (axial symmetry) or the one from the other flank (rotational symmetry) at the bare minimum for, as aforementioned, you don't know where the ships at the central spawn would go.
Karkong_the_Impaler Players 2,983 posts Report post #4 Posted December 30, 2022 I've had asymmetrical spawns, too. If you notice in time, run and kite, there is nothing else to do while you hope the team on the other flank actually doesn't use their superior numbers to camp in J10. So - can happen.

This very much. WG match positioning absolutely loves to put all low tier versus all high tiers and vice versa. Add in some natural player lemming effect and here you go. It's painful but nothing you could do about it. Your CV screwed up though, cause didn't spot in a proper way, so you wouldn't be surprised by so many ships and kited away in time.

Or maybe he did spot it all in time, but they just didn't take the hint. Without a replay, we can't really know.
