Is Kidd among the top 3 in T8 DDs (competitive mode)?

I know cossarck is the strongest. How is Kidd compared to the others, like terrible, Orkan, lightening?

Kidd and Cossack are the strongest in t8. It is head to head with Cossack and superior to all other t8 DDs

I really like Harekaze, Akizuki and Lightning, all with very different playstyles. I'm not sure what "stronger" means, as there are a lot of very strong T8 DDs that do different things well.

It has regular heal.

 

At the same time, old but gold Benson trades heal and some hp for 2nd torpedo launcher, so its matter which you value more.

Lightning have better firing arcs than Cossack, which need to show a lot of broadside to make use of all the guns. Second torpedo launcher also helps in yolo moments, if individual torps are bit worse.

Cossack, orkan and lightning/akizuki would be my personal picks.

I dont have the orkan, but wanted to get it several times just because of the value of stealth radar around caps.

to answer the initial question:

yes it is, no doubt. especially with ovechkins improved survivability expert, as this also slightly improves the heal.

Orkan doesn't have a normal heal, it heals less dmg unfortunately. It has similar heal to Daring or Jutland.

so in terms of heal: Neutra>Kidd>Jutland ? any numbers in details?

From what I remember Orkan could heal 2200 dmg using the heal flag, Neustrashimmy 8700. Kidd almost 4k.

Asashio is in the top 3 tier 8 dds in ranked, I discovered this randomly some seasons back. It was the one with highest average damage

 

 

Having since aquired one, i understunderstand why. Only cossack and harekaze has comparable concealment and positioned correctly it can cockblock both while inside it's own torp range of backline BBs

Good, but they have more obvious weaknesses than the usual top picks here.

Though Loyang can do smoke plays with a coordinated team and be useful that way.

Cossack for anti dd stuff.

Kiev/Le terrible/akizuki for gunboating stuff.

Kidd-for sustainability and prolonged engagements, is good against cv to (the t10 will still kick your [edited]but you can inflict some pain into t8 and t6)

Hsieng yang can be good for torpedoing stuff that is not dd or submarine, I guess.

Asashio is excellent against BBs and can still provide vision

Orkan is a kidd that trades heal efficiency and smoke for radar, bit better guns and more versatile torpedoes( it obviously has worse AA and probably handling too and dies much faster if focused)

The rest? Either niche, playable or just junk beyond salvation. But top 3 dds would be cossack, kidd and akizuki.

I would put harekaze near top 3 as well. Low hp pool does mean you can’t take as many risks as other dds though.

Stastistics you can look up, the other important factor for how you do is which ships you feel confortable sailing.

 

For me the most comfotable and this best ships are akizuki, harekaze and asashio. I do have a cossack, but I hate the gun-arcs. They feel like usn mortars when I'm used to ijn ships, so I keep missing when I play it. And also cossack isn't as versatile as the other 3 for dealing with BBs and cruisers (bar asashio which sinks enemy bbs leaving friendly bbs to dral with cruisers)
