So correct me if I’m wrong, but there is a huge difference between advertised ship drop rate and guaranteed drop rate.

 

for Mega containers the ship drop rate is 16%, so if I buy the 20 containers pack, I’m looking to get 20*0.16= 3.2 ships. However, the guaranteed drop rate is every 15th container, that’s less than 1.5 ships per 20 containers or 7.5% ship drop rate. 
 

the question is why such huge differences between advertised and guaranteed drop rate, which one should we believe?

Both, they are different things. One is the guaranteed number, the other is the average number.

The once I got with missions and rewards never gave me a ship (but one with coal and one with dubloons which was nice, and then utter crap like cameo's and flags).

I was extremely skeptical about the contents of the mega containers this year and (and I resisted gambing for a long time) - I ended up buying 20 pcs. And voila... 12 ships :). I only really want one, Gremy, but then again I got 2x Kamikaze clones (I had Kamikaze). But, in the end, the result is definitely better than a wire stuck in the eye :D

X for doubt. I see no crates in these screenshots. It's a golden user ad egg for WG even if it's true. I wonder how many people will now buy 20 crates only to find out this was either a lie or a fluke of chance and only end up with 1 guaranteed 15th crate ship that they didn't even want. Just remember, this is a gambling company, not a gaming company. The house always wins.

I think 3 or 4 ships drop for every 20 Mega containers is the average.

That would, of course, make perfect marketing sense in that it creates consumer hype and expectation, boosting sales. Lots of companies use this strategy.

 

I guess it doesn't apply to WG, as drop rates are fixed for the duration of the event (cough).

I saw a Schroder getting sunk yesterday already. Same as seeing a Tromp being sunk within the first 3 minutes after release for gold. Thank god I'm a happy sceptic and can just laugh off the sadness of all of this.
