Submarines are designed to be impossible to counter. Change my mind.

Watching this makes my brain go: 'Squadrons bombed in square shaped drop patterns back in the day?'

Especially when looking at the Tromp bomb drops it looks like the planes actually forcefully pewp bombs instead of dropping them.

 

I've not seen a company fail this hard at immersion of war machines. They turned bombers into weird little fart cubes.

Its almost as if this is just an arcady game vaguely resembling naval warfare :Smile_glasses:

Subs are not impossible to counter but their counters are made so laughably situational that in the vast majority of instances you have no choice but to pray that the sub player is a potato.

Fiji has depth charges, depth charges on a cruiser only work if the submarine is exceptionally stupid, even on fiji which has long hydro and good air conceal. Now imagine trying to do it in a cruiser with depth charges, bad air conceal and no hydro, venezia for example. Can't even kill a submarine who goes out of his way to get killed, not possible. Contrast this with Irian and Zao, supposedly bad ships but they have no problem dealing with subs, or Belfast who can hunt subs for fun. If you want to play cruisers and potentially face submarines, you're going to have to be more selective as to which cruisers you play because some can't do anything to subs, or just accept that in some cruisers you're going to suffer sometimes - Highlighting sometimes because while hindenburg and venezia are free kills for subs, you're not going to get tortured by a submarine in them all the time, maybe one in ten games.

Subs are almost totally immune to both RPF, hydro and radar. Its quite hilarious to sit at periscope depth 2.2 km away from a stationary BB in their spawn and just ram 6 non-homing torps right into his hull without him ever knowing im sitting right beside him. After he get hit he panics and looks around and see nothing, send out some wild guesstimate airdrops, he moves a bit, I move with him, again park 2.2 km away from him and repeat.

 

Also fun using the surface radar at depths and just surfacing right beside a cruiser and blapping him without him having a clue im even there. How is it that every other class getting spotted by radar/hydro knows they are detacted but a sub can sit right below a DD/cruiser/BB and use his radar to see them and they have Zero idea?! Balancing ..... 

 

Subs are perfectly designed for players that just want to grief other players while using way less skill. So pretty much perfect for WoW playerbase.

It's just too much (especially in franctic matches in Co-op.) You get shot by 2 - 3 sometimes even 4 or five ships at the same time, and then the constant "ping" sound makes you want to hit your head against the wall. And then try to locate them and place airplanes on it (if you have them, if not you're f*cked), all the while trying to avoit enemy shells and torps...
