Hi all

Popped up on my desktop, on inspection got this:

image.thumb.png.04e8da760fdae562cdbe7750233cebbe.png

Anyone else get this or is it because I rarely play anymore?

Cant help but think there is a catch involved, likely a scam or possibly scamola :cap_hmm:

And how are they supposed to scam you? Can you elaborate?

That's not a scam, it's free stuff, bro, no strings attached. You may feel scammed if the T9 premium turns out to be Siegfried or Azuma though :fish_cute_2:

I dont know.

Past experience means I approach with cautious cynicism.

WeeGee found a way:

No bote as I am a former whale and probably have it.

EDIT:

Free Tier 9, coal and steel for knocking off snowflakes...

That's the new Veteran reward, I think. It appears if you leave the game for a long time, like 3 months, or so I've been told

The catch is that you have to endure the game longer because of the free stuff they gave you. It's there to lure you back in.

My clanmate that was very active, stopped playing for 6 weeks. And received that message as an email. So he logged in and after some wins (can be done in coop) he got a T5 premium container (Gulio Cesar, I'm not joking) and from the T9 one he got Tulsa.

I think I get it now... WG put the subs in so that we stop playing and they get to lure us back with expensive free gifts. Diabolically clever. :cap_yes:

I've seen talks about these months ago. Not sure if it was with the same rewards back then. But it's hardly new.

by stopping to play and wait for the email........

In other words, just by sitting on the porch like a veteran.

4k dubs for free isn't exactly a scam I would say

It is a scam, could be 10k dubs :Smile_trollface:

Guess the best move to get stuff is to farm snowflakes in december, then take a long break, then come back after a mail offering many goodies. Then it'll be WoWS 8th birthday, with snowflakes to farm again.

I'd be getting more TIX premium ships by not playing than by farming coal at my current rythm :cap_cool:

And why would you getting all these matter if you don't play anyway???

its hilarious because this kind of thing can only really work long-term if progression frustration was the reason you quit. I would posit that if you came back and got this, you still wouldnt play long term because the game itself is f***ed, irrelevant of the progression you achieved.

they baited me with this kind of stuff aswell, except it was only coal and a day of premium (I was never a whale) x)

Id still claim though, if it happens - the game might not be sanely playable now but IF this game gets saved, you have all the stuff they threw at your feet to coax you back

edit:

@Sams_Baneblade - my thoughts exactly x)

Which is really useful when one does not play the game.

Looks like simple temptation to draw in customers to me, cant see any harm in it. Start playing again and you get a premium ship. Maybe that makes you tempted to get more premium ships which you would then have to pay for. Maybe the XP multiplier tempts you to get premium account for a while. After all, the pixels are free to WG.

Never said it would be smart. Only more efficient :cap_haloween:

The concept in itself is already flawed.

You wrote it would be the best move, which it is not, when one plays the game.

And the concept works for WG.

If a player does not come back, the free ships generate almost no cost to WG.

If a player does come back, the server activity increases and the player or someone else might spend some money.

The point here is why do the people stop playing in the first place? This is not about playing less, it's about not playing at all.

Because its natural for people to play different games and take breaks?
