No one noticed Tromp has been added to the armory? Asking price over 20k dubs plus 1 mil free XP. I'll wait for her to be available for coal, but maybe someone did have a few spare dubs and fxp and can share first impressions? I've seen Potato Quality's yt vid and Tromp looks interesting...

Slightly below 20k doubloons actually, 19'225 would be the price for those 50 tokens. But still, it's twice the cost of a tier IX (with the free xp or by buying all necessary tokens for doubloons). For a ship that will be available for coal soon enough.

Trouble is that there are plenty of players out there that will buy it for dubs , normally they are pretty useless in the game as being first to have a new TX ship is all that matters to them

I was hoping for a Dutch super unicum with 30k battles on account and spare gold and free xp on the side and big sentiment to their Navy or the ship herself 😉

Noobs in T10, since buyable for money

Of course, the chance for new players sucking at the game is higher than "experienced" players, but since there are a ship ton of plain bad player with 5k+ battles, I don't bother any more.

 

Ship is only available for money (at first)

I actually kind of like the payed early access approach. You just have to wait a bit and can then get the ship for coal. Those who want it asap pay the game. There are way worse ways of making money from the game. And WG are usually masters of those.

I think there is no need to pay a doubloon as it will take its place in armory as coal at the end of the event.

Personally I think that your statement is a myth often repeated in the circles of players that the amount of doubloonspending useless players for a ship like Tromp are high.

 

Not that I doubt that there may be some but not that they represent the majority of Tromp players. First it does not seem like a riskfree ship to play, like most destroyers you will sense and judge the player more easily than if he had whaled a larger ship. But I am pretty sure that the majority of Tromp players will be veterans or players from the Dutch region that have amassed a lot of coal. I have for instance done that. 

 

Moreover I think that the offer might induce spending from players that have used up a lot of coal on other ships.

 

If I were a new player that suddenly would do a ridiculus amount of spending why choose Tromp? Even if it is a new ship it is a less famous ship over all, even it was built in steel.  Oh yes, I bought the Atago with predictable results early in my career but returned to lower tiers. Then there were very few ships to buy.

But it is a difference to pay nearly 20000 doubloons (or double that if you are a new player), when the offer of ships is so diverse, you have simply too many cheaper ships to buy.

 

However I admit it would be interesting to look at stats of the Tromp players after the offer period expires so study the statistics of the players, how Tromp was bought, how experienced the player is and do the same thing after a while, say 6 months after. 

 

But even if your theory may be correct percent wise of Tromp players in the beginning I doubt the impact will be great overall given that the number of ships are so large now so Tromp is a very small part of the ship base.

Pretty sure that a new player wanting to buy a tier X right now would not go for Tromp, but one of the Blacks like Napoli. Tromp seems more like something for enthusiasts /andor excentrics on first glance. That's not necessarily bad, mind you. Just my first impressions from looking at the stats and armament.

Tromp is a T4/5 CL material stuffd into a T10 DD slot after having the citadel disabled...

I actually play the game. Whereas many whales that buy the stuff don't actually play the game.

They just sail around in their shiny toys being utterly useless to their team. Ergo, they don't actually play the game.
