If this is the implementation to nudge AFKers into actually playing the game, WG actually... did very well

It's not as intrusive as some were predicting.

It could be refined though, especially at the start of the match when more ALT-TABing probably occurs.

Eg, trigger the notification when

  • Your team spots and enemy ship
  • Your ship gets detected
  • Enemy planes spotted
  • Enemy starts taking a cap zone

I realised there is this nifty feature in Win 11 that allows you to block the popups from any app

where would you find that?

Quote

To stop all Windows 11 pop-ups, follow these steps. a) Right-click the Start menu and select settings. b) After that, on the right pane of the Settings page click Notification category. c) On the Notification pane, toggle the notification button from On to Off.

Could it be there's some kind of a counter or a timer linked to the game detecting alt+tabbing?

Looks like WG are still testing it :Smile_trollface:

Turned that off so long ago - That might explain why I don't get these popups when I alt tab.

Now, not being subject to WG coding for the first time in my life, I fully expect the penalty mechanic not working on those who have this function disabled... :Smile_trollface:

Although I don't tab out for minutes at a time, that's just deadly in a Colbert.

So, what about "super botting" being the reason for the punishment and not the amount of windows popups? Maybe WG did introduce some kind of battle efficiency protocol? Maybe even in relation with player reports. Check the WoWs numbers. Of course WG would not admit such actions or criteria openly, causig them to publish such a non-saying article about the inactivity changes. What do you all think?

Where is this done? I've never done it before.

Go to the Player support page, go to Contact Support, go to appeal a suspension, you describe the issue and upload the replay...and wait for their response

Not unless you play Pommern or Agir in co-op. :Smile-_tongue:

There's some notorious potatoes there - their guns aren't even pointing anywhere near the enemy ships.

Now there is a worth check for WG - detect those guys and penalize.

Well, imagine you sail around with a <100 PR and complain about inactivity penalties? ^^

Because by alt-tabbing out for several minutes to do private stuff you have no attention to the map, the chat, CV attacks, analyzing enemy ship distribution and spawns, you cannot react to sudden spots etc. I do not even care if anything applied in this particular match, because the way he plays it does not even matter if he is fully afk or not. But I am fine with the punishment for tabbing out, no matter if it has an impact on the game or not.

I alt-tab frequently if there's nothing to do for at least a minute, which is very common in this game.

If we've won a flank completely, there's no enemy CV, and the team has to sail 20 km to the other end of the map to finish off a couple of enemies on low hp, with a good cap/point situation, why should I stay glued to the screen? I won't quit the battle prematurely, but I'm totally going to start reading an article in the meantime.

What next, a penalty for not writing in chat every two minutes? I use chat (not quick commands: proper chat) more than 90% of the players around but, again, sometimes there's simply nothing to say.

This warning just infantilizes players:

  • I'm triggering it almost every game, which is annoying and clearly unrelated to my recent performance.
  • 45%ers can stay with their eyes to the screen the whole time, and still play way too passively

:Smile_trollface:But you need to buy the “ inactivity pass” first. For a modest 1000 doubloons / patch you are protected against the faulty system that can take away your earnings from a game.

Another 1000D also gives you protection against reports when playing subs / Cv’s..

When purchased combined 10% off…

Oh god don't give them any ideas

That might be a frequent problem of yours, "checking back on the battle every few minutes", resulting not only in frequent inactivity reports, but also things like a whopping 92 (!) PR at tier X after almost 700 games. But thank you for explaining the game to me. I wonder who's the real troll here.

You're welcome for the explanation.

Online trolls are those who make commentary for the enjoyment of watching others react to their unreasonable criticisms or outlandish claims. That's what your comment sounded like. I experienced a serious event, a penalty that was unreasonable, that I was writing about here for the sake of finding out if others had had similar experiences with, and for getting possible advice for what to do about it. Instead of providing something useful, you chose to criticize my gameplay, having apparently not watched the replay of the battle in question, and invented "crimes" I committed in that gameplay. You came across just like the occasional apparent 14-year-olds who, in the midst of a game, accuse other players of losing the game for them, make imprecations about others' gameplay, and in general act like little snots who know it all. Your comment here also reminds me of the hoity-toity "I'm better than yous" who, in the midst of a battle, will take the time and trouble of looking up a player's profile and make mention in chat about that player's 45% victory rate and offer snide observations as to whether or not the player should uninstall the game. Or, who, after the battle, will open up a personal chat with another player so as to call into question the other player's mental acuity, ancestry, or fitness for any purpose, again suggesting an uninstall.

Pardon me if you are none of those things, but your commentary was simulating it fairly convincingly.

I will admit to being curious about what "a whopping 92 (!) PR at tier X after almost 700 games" is supposed to mean, and why I should care. Perhaps you could explain.

It wasn't a suspension. But I reported it in one of those support areas.

92PR at tier X (10) after playing 700 games in relation to you means that your ingame performance is absolutely terrible. He is pointing out that the way you play the game is detrimental to 11 other teammates of yours who play on the same  team with you because you play so badly that its hard to win if you are around.

And he argued correctly that your ingame behavior of rather reading something on the internet while the battle is going on should be punished as above. Overall your presence in the battles you play is bad for your own team because you dont care

No problem. It wasn't directed at you in any case. But I do recognize that I have a tendency to multiply words. In some quarters this is called eloquence, but in others it is called "word salad". YMMV.

Thank you! Should I uninstall the game, then?

But still no notion of what "92PR at tier X (10)" means. Is this some item in one's profile that I can examine myself? Or is it a secret setting that only people with high access can get to?

Incidentally, others have admitted a tendency to go off looking at something else when in transit to a far edge of the map. Should they uninstall, too?

no you should stop doing it so excessively and concentrate on the battle and on improving your game performance.

PR is a measurement taking into account values that are collected after your battle performance is calculated. It includes Winrate calculations and the damage you deal on average. The lower the PR value the more it indicates that you are playing badly.

Just as a perspective. The average PR value in any given tier is 1000PR.

You are only at 92. This is nearly 10x below the average value.
