Remember when everyone was getting Makarov as ship drop from Santa Crates?

Do you think that now everyone will be getting premium subs, if ship drops? I certainly think so.

Doubt they’ll have a short list - they would have to declare it now they publish the odds. Also they never put CVs in the short list so I doubt they’ll put a sub in.

I hope not. I dont really have any interest in playing subs. Best things for me in previous Christmas drops was tier 5 ships with perma-camo.

Maybe less "thinking" and more fact checking?

There is no shortlist. Droprates are favoring regular ( non rare) T5-T7. Since both subs are T8 any player with few premium ships has a low chance to see them.

On the other hand, veteran players might find them more common. But that’s because their potential premium ship drop pool is way smaller.

So I have a good chance that my free Satan crates will drop a CV or a sub. But that’s because my drop pool consists of 4 CV’s, the subs, 2 T9 and 4 other T8 BB/ CA’s..plus the coal  T9 Black and Kamikaze.

This.

Lets stick to the facts. Idle speculation on a topic like this is a waste of time at best, stirring additional unrest at worst.

If some moderator reads this... maybe put a lock on this thread. Its completely pointless - and thats saying something in this forum.

Not in 2021

Does not mean it can't come back in 2022. Does it? WG is recently full of ideas.

What would they gain from making a 180° turn in their policy that they started in response to the 2020 pr fiasco?

Submarines must reach set adoption goal. WG is dumping them down our throats every way they can. They also know that "pr fiasco" lives for 1, 2 weeks.

WG got sued over that shortlist scam in 2020 and had to give refunds. Player complaints might not scare them but loss of profits do. They probably won't go back to that.

That was due to them removing description of mechanics, that was present in earlier years. As long as they describe it, there is no legal problem.

This is basically my concern. That said, in previous years, newer premiums have been excluded from Satan Boxes, so by that criterion we should be safe from submarines this year.

On the other hand, there has been more than a whiff of desperation about WG's attempts to get people to play submarines, so I wouldn't be surprised if the 'normal' rules don't apply when trying to get the damn things into our ports.

*If* (and it's a big 'if' for the first time this year) I buy any Satan Boxes this time, I'm kind of resigned to having to get through at least some submarines before I get a decent drop. It's like Krispy Kreme/Cheshire, only an order of magnitude worse...

I suspect WG folk will have been conflicted:

  • On the one hand, if submarines are a splendid idea then the premium versions should be just as desirable as regular premium ships, so the 'normal' rules should apply i.e. no newest releases in Satan Boxes.
  • Meanwhile, it appears that someone important's bonus/career is depending on people playing the damn things (how else to explain the desperation?), so that provides pressure to take another opportunity to force submarines on people.

If WG hadn't been such to$$ers about this whole submarine business, I might even feel slightly sorry for them over this dilemma...

Can you imagine what would happen if they made a premium submarine the seasonal event ship? Like the Repulse and PEF were.

This thread serves no purpose than what others already pointed out - speculation.

While you may have your concerns, the way this is framed is certainly not "will 2022 santa crates have a short list" but more like "which ships will be in it" definitely borders on misinformation. Thus, this thread is locked.
