It looks like a developer just cobbled some randomness together and called it a Japanese submarine.

It's called "Revenge for Tsushima design" and is an everyday experience in this game, whose designers are still mentally russian, even when their passports might classify them differently.

The Revenge of Tsushima doctrine calls for German ships being at least one level of functionality below russian ships, while japanese ships are supposed to be at the lowest step of the ladder, excluding a few alibi "quite good" ships, which perform well in the hand of experienced players.

The reason for the Revenge for Tsushima doctrin is the hope that players forget the historical events and except the russian fleet as something what it was supposed to be, but never (not even at current time, as recent happenings show) really was: effective.

Of course the human mind doesn't work like this on normal (aka non-russian) people. Contrary to the planned result, most people do not blank out historical facts and do not replace them with some imagined patriotic alternate history.

How about you just play it like a DD with a "get out of jail free" card?

then better play a DD, at least MM won't tag you as a Sub and summon a Sub on the other team

Yeah-yeah, and other legends from european servers...

That's why
1) Russian ships were the last among the 4 big nation trees
2) Both 10th tier Japanese DDs and BB are better, than russian counterparts and Japanese cruisers are among the easiest to master
3) Japan has best tier 9 premium BB, best premium cruisers and easiest to play super BB
4) Japanese super DD is an OP compared to russian one.
5) All 10 German BBs are better than Kremlin

But yeah... Revenge for Tsushima :Smile_facepalm:

The Soviet Naval Forces are well known to have been the most amazing naval battle force in the world, far superior to countries like Laos or Azerbaijan.

Weight was never an issue, so whatever was built...It had the best armor plates.

One might think one gets killed in the game by projectiles, rockets or torpedoes...But it's the sheer weight of the superior Soviet vehicles which bangs players to the ocean floor.

The Soviet armor conversion rate is as follows: 1 Soviet Ton of Russian Armor = 1 Million 1 Liter Steel Vodka Bottles

Have you been around a few years ago, when the russian ships got invented, comrade? Or have you played world of tanks? They even implemented KV-1, a tank design with a turret that was so heavy it couldn't be turned if the tank wasn't on flat ground, 20 km/h top speed and more casualties through transmission failures than actual combat. There was a time when the only high tier non paper (or should I say "random scribblings on a madhouse toilet wall") ship was the trashkent - built in italy, because competence, and used as a troop carrier.

Edit: It still is, but the german trees got inflated with even dumber ships, so there is that. Also Bismarck tier 8 and Yamato tier 10 doesn't add up.

At some point after Smolensk and Petro someone at WG deceided that the blatant bias is only cool for russians and that all the other customers frown on that, so it has gotten a bit better.

Also - I remember when Khabarovsk was quite the fun little cruiser for quite a while.
