Will you spend the Submarine tokens on actually getting the subs?

The only tech trees I've yet to complete (ignoring CVs and submarines) is the Heavy French Cruiser (I have the Brest TIX) line and the British Battle Cruiser line (I have the Hawke TVIII).  I'm not actively grinding either of these (I have too many ships) but play them every now and then.

 

I currently have 430 days premium and I did not buy the 365 days that were on offer last year (I think).

On a slight tangent I don’t know if many of you guys noticed and this does depend if your a gambling man but;

 

You can get a sub crate for 50,000 free XP which has a 70% chance of giving you 70,000 free XP, luckily I won the 70,000 so I’m happy, just remember you do run a risk of loosing the gamble and winding up with a submissive.

I did precisely this on both my main, and mothballed NA account - got lucky both times, and got the free xp. Huzzah!

I just got the T6 usa sub in the crate, I wanted the 70k FXP 

to push it further, I was offered the jap T8 premium in the first random bundle for 1k gold.

I played only a couple games in rental subs a long time ago.

And i won´t take the risk and gamble the 50k FXP for a chance of 70k in return. With my luck in such things i´ll surely get the sub ...

If I see this right. We can get 2500 Tokens for Free from doing enough Personal Missions.

Means for One of the T8 Subs we are missing 1000 Tokens.

 

However. Since you can get Sub Tokens for Community Tokens.

You can in Theory get the missing 1000 Tokens for a Total of 4800 Community Tokens.

 

Considering that. I think I will get the German T8 Sub.

Yes I will spend them , that does not mean I will play them, at least not in any numbers. I collect ships so I can enjoy the graphics in harbour and they might be operations in the future where they might be acceptable to play in.

So far I have not played a single game in all the test ships we have had, had to clean out my captain reserve of a huge number of Eire and hermelin 0 -point captains though and i will use FReexp to get to T10. 

 

So for me that is a huge difference collect and aquire and play.

I am a bit in the same bind. Dont want to play them ( did some in coop for clan missions though and could make them work) but also want to collect them.

 

Getting the Subs saves some FXP plus silver and port slots which currently with  zero port space and low silver is a nice option. From collection pov ( and with snowflakes in mind) I received the T6 US and can, by spending CT, get the German T6 and T8 ending up with 3 out of 4 ships fully researched, with port slots etc. The loss of 50k FXP ( a currency I have a lot more off) plus the lost opportunity cost ( those tokens could have been used on silver) does not weigh up to time, xp and silver gained by having these 3 ships in port rather effortlessly.

 

Although I fear the T8-T10 grind. If it follows CV levels of xp requirements it will take a long long time. Still working at my T10 CV since my remaining T8’s CV made more progress towards the T10 in operations this month then in all the years before..My subs will probably stay at the tiers as received in this event.

If the subs come with a 10 pts captain, I will buy them for tokens... then sell the griefer sh!t and keep the captain only.

 

If no captain like above, just convert to silver.

If you're unlucky, then you'll get a 10 pts captain (T8 case). Developing a captain from 3 to 10 costs ~120K elite commander xp, so it's still good. Getting T6 is the real loser curve as it gives only a captain with 6 points - from 3 to 6, it's just 27K.

 

But I didn't count retraining costs in any cases.

Well, yesterday the sub-container "gifted" me with the german T6... probably I will use the tokens to buy the first step of the german chain, in this way I will be refund of those 70k fXP.

The T6 comes with a 6 point captain, the T8 with a 10 point captain.

 

Personally I already got both german subs, working on the american ones now - if only for the latter to give me a head start en route to the Balao. Every T10 means extra good stuff on Christmas event.

 

I´m also really glad to see that, regardless if you like subs or not, the current early access offers something for everybody. Enjoy your prizes!
