I think it was a pretty bad idea of WG to allow all CIS player to come to EU server.

Nearly every match I face people writing in russian in the chat. I think most people on EU server dont speak russian. and most of themdont speak english

we simply cant communicate!

I don't speak French, German, Italian, or any other language come to that (unless you count 'Brighton') - I don't see that the addition of a selection of new languages that I also can't speak to the server will make much difference...

Both of you speak quick commands, you can use those to help.

nearly all player on WU server can speak english, but nearly noone fron CIS server can!

and short commands are NOT sufficient to communicate in a match

From what I've seen they don't make it past the 5 minute mark in a game anyway.

In their defense the meta on EU is almost certainly not the same as it was on RU, at least not entirely the same.

Of course, but I'm still not seeing your point - it's no worse (in terms of me understanding) than any other language I don't speak.

Naturally I fully understand that English is the world's de facto lingua franca (I suspect my sideline of being an English tutor would be rather less in demand were it otherwise), but it's down to the individual whether they learn it or not. I don't expect anyone else to necessarily know it in-game, so why should the CIS folk be any different?

I just report them for chat misbehavior.

They should know that eng lang is only on EU.

You are lucky that WOWS doesn't have a voice chat. Every CS:GO player can confirm you that if two Russians meet it's a complete fiesta most of the time and any other language gets dominated. I don't know what they can speak about so long and in detail, but thousands of random teammates definately created a pattern here and it's 95% Russians that behave like that. Luckily there is a mute button.

On a serious note, I see a lot of non-English speakers in WOWS. I can often read German in the chat for example, so it's not just a Russian thing.

CIS had a pretty agressive meta , EU a very passive one ... and Asia is even more passive with literally every BB staying 20km out if noth further.

I bet the Russian guys have a pretty hard time here getting used to this pretty boring EU meta, and probably they regret the swap already.

evern before this then plenty of non english chat.    don't see a problem

In terms of not being able to communicate then can hardly recall a useful chat

usually players complaining about other players

The only thing that bothers me with people not speaking english, is when they seem to try to speak to you, specifically. Especially if they're insisting.

I'd love to know what you have to say, but maybe try a language that is spoken by a little bit more than 10% of the European population?

(Edit: I arbitrarily thought about Hungarian for that 10% rate. It's 1.5% of the European population who can speak it, not 10%...)

That, and people that switch from english to their native toungue in chat, but you're almost certain that it is to insult you anyway, so you're not missing anything...

It feels like I attract Turkish people, as a side note. I don't know if it's a Turkish thing or if there's another reason, but I often get people speaking Turkish directly to me.

I have no idea why. I speak only two languages, and have basic notions of two others, and Turkish is not on the list.

Otherwise, people can speak whatever they want in the chat, and if they don't understand english, well too bad. I can't blame them.

Especially considering we have plenty of older players here. How many 40+ years old who can speak english do you know?

I think you can stop commenting on that part now, I got the message...

Not strictly true: I once knew a splendid French academic (in Brittany, as I recall), who did speak English but refused to when in France; I don't speak any French (well, one or two words, but you know what I mean), so we compromised on a bit of Latin - even though mine was spectacularly weak even then...

It might be something to do with your handle - does it mean something in Turkey?

I get something similar occasionally with Dutch folk; there's something about 'Verblonde' that some of them seem to recognise for some reason of which I'm unaware...

I had a brilliant encounter today:

  1. I play Druid with 2 div mates, push the flank, dodge some Halland torps, track him down, get a full kill a First Blood (he doesn't shoot back).
  2. Later, his Bourgogne div mate rushes me (my fault) and sinks me. Halland goes "f**k you Druid" in chat. Fair enough :Smile_teethhappy:
  3. Back to port (they won, btw), I write him "you should use your guns more"
  4. He replies: "I no speak English"
  5. So I go: "but you knew how to write f**k you Druid :D"
  6. So he writes back, in cyrillic, something that translates to "write in Russian you £$*@!" :Smile_facepalm:

Man,who cares. I've seen cheat-chats in German, French, Turkish, my own Polish... it did not and does not bother me.

Maybe your problem is that you have no idea if they ofend you? If yes - then just learn some basic swear words and it will help you. Cyrilic is not so complicated like f.ex. Japanese

Well, the important parts are always learned first. I can also curse in polish and russian, although I don't speak more than three words in either language.

But since we have this new ping mechanic, you can even ping a course for a particularily unattentive teammate, combine that with "well done" in either literal or sarcastic meaning, and you're almost set. Don't ask how I know...

:Smile_veryhappy:.... yeah.... nope. more than ngh who cannot. and, as u have no measure at all to draw such a conclusion, i suggest u might spend more attention on using quick commands to their purpose instead of.... whatever ur aim is besides complaining about ur own incapibility to communicate via quicks ;P...

Honestly - there are quite a few people in game and in chat that are difficult (at best) to communicate with because of language skill issues. The big difference: they do not write in cyrillic alphabet (usually).
