What is the proposed solution to the overall problem with submarines?

Hello,

@Seraphice

@YabbaCoe

@MrConway

As it currently stands submarines are a legitimate problem with the game no matter how much chocolate you pour on top of it. Submarines either completely break a game or they contribute almost nothing so what we have is a feast or famine situation. What is the proposed solution from Wargaming to fix these things once and for all or just scrap them? I may be mistaken but I do believe we are about four years into the development and in my opinion seem to be even worse and continue to cause havoc in the game. What is it going to take before the camel's back is truly broken?

Thank you

I guess playing low tiers (1-4) or deleting the game will be the only realistic solutions.

Yes there is "adopt and continue", but I'm with the 'this is literally game-breaking' camp.

"Some lootbox will surely fix the issue." as someone from WG would suggest.

Jokes aside, nothing will fix them & WG doesnt plan on scrapping them as they wasted too many time and money developing them.

Proposed solution is to "make submarine play more comfortable". For eg. by "disabling guaranteed detection will make submarine play more comfortably". To sum it up " the change will make playing submarines more understandable and comfortable".

Ah, and throw in sub that makes 53kt underwater.

Sure! Some lootbox or Admirals bundle will solve this problem too.

I seriously doubt WG have anything remotely close to a plan beyond shove subs into game, and frantically scrabble around with any random idea that pops into their head.

Somehow they have managed to take out all the fun and exciting aspects of playing a good submarine game and yet failed to take into account any of the aspects of spotting that define WOWS. So we are left with this egregious project that is going no where.

However don’t worry with the proposed new changes and the nerfs to team work it can only get more ridiculous.

As far as I can tell, WG are too dumb to know when to cut their losses (that time was several months ago when it was clear that submarines couldn't be implemented in a way that improves the game); so, my solution to the problem is not play any mode with submarines in it, and spend more time playing other things...

I would say if WG made a proper Convoy Mode - that would help but then they'd have to have Corvettes in that mode. Lots of Corvetttes in WW2.

As to Submarines in the regular modes - oh well ..... :Smile_sceptic:.

Solutions

1) Play low tiers, as per @HARBINGER_OF_SKULLS

2) Play Scenarios - until you get to Raptor Rescue when the team fails hard.

3) Play Okhotnik, so you don't feel any obligation to suicide into depth charge range

4) Play CVs - so you can't/don't interact with subs. :Smile_trollface:

I was going to suggest "play co-op", but then remembered that the bot subs often out perform many of the so called "humans" that are driving the same damned class of ship.

Silly me.

Im taking the same approach as you it’s just less stressful than playing lab rat.

What is a pity though is when WG first announced subs they said they would only make a final decision about them after subs had been tested in a special game mode for several months. However in late December YabbaCoe states subs will not be cancelled because of the time invested in their development. I just wish they could be more honest at the start of their projects, as well as actually put some damn effort into this appalling idea.

This.

Thing is, a lot of my spending decisions would have been rather different over the last year or so if WG had been honest (i.e. we're getting submarines, like it or not, and regardless of how shite they are for the game); if that were a trend across the wider player base, you can see why WG avoided honesty in this case.

If that were truly the case, then I'm a unicum.

(Narrator: alas, he was most certainly not a unicum.)

Anyone who thinks Wargaming has no plan is wrong. Of course, the plan has nothing to do with balancing, just promoting the new submarines. And only when the sales figures have been reached does balancing work begin. Also, it's positive for Wargaming to constantly shift the meta because the adjustments made by players bring in money. And it wouldn't be half as annoying if Wargaming didn't always say that they take our feedback seriously. Because that feels like a narrow lie, especially in connection with submarines.

I'm curious to see how long Wargaming will be able to absorb the migrating players by recruiting new players. As long as this breaking point has not been reached and Wargaming can generate fresh money, they will not act in the interests of the player base. In my environment, many play significantly less or not at all. The motivation also passed before that due to the direction of development, but submarines then pushed it again significantly.

I hope they haven't already crashed the game by the time the point of rethinking is reached.

I asked this question back in 2018, are WG prepared to drop the whole idea if it doesn't work, the answer was obvious at the time, no, they were going to push on regardless.

Well... change, yes, but if we are honest that's the thing that keeps not only the money coming in but the players in the game as well, as long as the changes do not make the game worse, of course.

I think we all know that WG solution is….nothing. They haven’t listened to us about cvs so why care about us regarding subs? Subs are here to stay, like it or not. (And about 95% of us hate their guts!)

So the solution to the problem is your’s to choose. Pack up and find another game or play only t4 and below as suggested above.
OR you soldier on in the vain hope that it will get better and you pray for the odd subless game. On the bright side, though, cvs dont seem that bad anymore…😀

Maybe that is the plan!!!??🤔😂
