Yeah that happens a lot. Usually my game is 100%, but after the update,

sometimes a flicker happens, and after that:

- aim is off, cannot hit the inside of a barn;

- also the aiming lock will just pop to a different ship or refuse to lock the one in the middle;

- the "start" button will not work as supposed to, AKA need to press it 5 times and works delayed;

- armory and ship modules and all that react "delayed".

 

.... I call it the "three weeks update feature" as it usually gets fixed after that.

Yep, also happens to me naerly all the times I try to lock aim. Didn't get arranged in the last update, BTW.

I might be imagining it but I've had some weird aim lock shenanigans since the update that I didn't really notice before, just strangely dropping or switching.

 

Either it's confused or I'm confused. Maybe it's both? :cap_yes:

Don't waste your breath, lost count of times I mentioned it as a bug, autoswitching to another target, got nowhere even with Seraphice looking at it :(

its not convenient but try this:

When you notice a target where the the auto target hasn't marked it yet then press X once. What will likely happen is that the auto target will target it and then your X press will cancel it again. DONT MASH X now. Confirm first if it truly isn't targeted.Then only press X once again and it will be fine.

Worked for me every time the bug happened.

Yes it should be fixed but this is a workaround that helps when you really need that target.

Yes it should be fixed but this is a workaround that helps when you really need that target.

i've just done a training room with track locked target turned off, didn't seem a problem..... and erm the accuracy seemed better on the Tulsa, off for a coop to see how it goes before trying random

just beware of muscle memory firing before you manually set the mark

Yeah but let's be fair. It's really difficult to get such a system right.
I don't even suspect there being a bug, just that the autosystem just sometimes takes more time than you have to shoot certain targets which leads you to try to set it manually just before the automatic system would have set it which leads to the automatic system then setting in and cancelling out your manually set mark. It's pitiful as I believe it would be really hard to tell it to mark targets faster. Imagine aiming at a bunch of ships close together and because of the auto systems fast marking it would jump the mark from ship to ship as it wouldn't be able to truly know which one you'd actually like to target.

Then there are the players who unlike you can't keep track of this who really rely on such an automatic system and for them the autotargeting taking to long wouldn't make a difference anyway since they are slow to react to begin with. So WG likely will never attempt to make it any better as there probably isn't really a way to make it better.

 

Same story with autopilot. There is only so much an automated system can do.

it would be nice to toggle off and on to be honest, maybe you can already do that i haven't checked, the more i track manually the easier it gets, some games i do better than others to be honest

Dear WG, 

 

the aiming lock stuff NEEDS to be fixed.

 

  • Auto-locks on random target, even when previously locked on another target
  • REFUSES to auto-lock on the ONLY target in the sight
  • nightmarish to lock on the proper ship when here are multple ships close together. And on occasion when zooming out, autolocks on ANOTHER target, not the ship you had selected.

There is NO consistency on what it is locking; getting this thing fixed would make more people happy and do more good for the game than the messing about with submarines you are currently doing.
