Agreed: on 1080p the second largest size is probably the optimal (maybe sub-optimal but one-size-fits-all enough good) for all classes with a ~50% alpha (transparency), or the third largest for smaller screen resolutions. The largest size interferes too much with the direct view, although it's useful for aiming at no-LoS targets during cyclones. Also activating last known locations and ship names gives much required info. OTOH, range circles are useful but not that mandatory (I have all of them on, though) while the rotating minimap is a headache that screws my sense of positioning.
