So, most of us are here because we love ww2 , we love ships, we love history and we love games.

Now we have Midway, 80 years anniversary , we open up the game and what do we see, one stupid mission that brings absolutely nothing special. Two 6 point commanders that have no special skills, some camos and a patch, just wow.

Game that is based on naval history and battles have no events or any kind of gameplay towards it.

You really CANT say that as a developer you CANT make an event about Midway, small week campaign, maybe even a longer campaign, a special operation, a special brawl Japanese against Americans, OR even something that will make us buy some premium ship. And even from WG perspective point of view ,some event that will make them money. They have a tons of people working on this game, is there NOBODY there that loves history, that what this whole game is about. Hell make an event 20 vs 20 with more carriers, give big rewards who sunk carriers, they can be even bot doesn't have to be players. Since I started playing this game I am amazed of how little they exploit the whole history concept in this game. Make a damned WORLD CAMPAING that people will play, that will bring more players, more money to them. Make clan battles more history based. Imagine if they put something like Japanese and Americans clan battles for a month at least. Or world campaign for clan battles ,where we would battle ourselves on the global map. Not just copy paste clan battles every time.

I ask you this, are you this non imaginative company in a game where you have everything written in the history books, where you can open it and make something out of it...and guess what even earn money in the progress...

I swear I think they only see premium ships in this game and nothing else, only source that they make money...

What do you think, can and should they do better?

Sadly I fear WG have rather lost interest in the history aspect of the game, operations or special events would be obvious choices for such anniversaries but it’s not really in WGs interest.

To be fair it might be because Submarine’s are absorbing so much of WGs development resources, that’s why we don’t get proper historic events and also why they keep recycling Halloween and April fool events.

I wouldn't call that exactly fair...

It’s the closest I can come to giving WG the benefit of the doubt without giving myself a migraine.

Does _a given_ suggestion, change, addition or removal make WG (more) money?

- If yes; then it's gonna be "over implemented" And if the playerpool are kicking and screaming "iT's A bAd IdEa!"? Then it's gonna be rammed down our throats. Cuz dollari.

- If no; then it's gonna linger as topics on this forum indefinitely, being brought up from time to time. But historically no change will come of it.....

Does it answer your question regarding a "Midway campaign"? Nope, but you get the gist I'm sure.

The thing is, though, historically speaking, they've done a lot better in the past.

We got a really nice low-tier Pacific War campaign already. While it was a nice story arc, the missions were generic grinds. Patching together some specific missions on a generic map, like "Ocean", with appropriate bots can't be that hard. So I would give that campaign a 5 out of 10.

I think their best to date was with Operation Dynamo.

Hmm, what would be an 'interesting' mission in your eyes? I don't think any mission has ever not been a generic grind.

Historical orders of battle with the choice to play one of those ships. If WG want to invest a bit more effort, they can also set waypoints for the bots and send reinforcements at the appropriate time.

They would do what they did do. Not what WG wants them to do.

Its interesting how he doesn’t make mention of USS Tambor’s questionable contribution to the battle, who’s commander was too cautious to approach the ships he spotted and sent a confusing message that Spruance was furious about its vagueness.

Although given the failures of US submarine command training and their torpedos at the start of the war maybe it was a good idea he was so cautious.

Subs did kill Japanese super carrier, so +1 for them? :cap_haloween:

It's probably difficult to criticise a sub commander about being cautious in what's a major fleet engagement folding. It's probably fair to say that the Nautilus was extremely luckly in those conditions, or her commander and crew were exceptionally good. Or both.

Well there has to be a good side to submarines lol

Actually the story of the Ise is always an amazing one, from the 10th-20th February 1945 she successfully escaped being attacked by 29 different allied submarines.

I do sympathise with the submarine commander to an extent pre war US submarine commanders were trained to be exceedingly cautious.

As for the the Nautilus I’m sure her crew did very well, although many British and American submarine commanders commented on the appalling quality of Japanese anti submarine warfare throughout the war.
