Well yes but it is good to keep in mind that "modern" stuff ( that includes components) is designed around and with much tighter tolerances in mind , hence less.... "gorgeousness". Tho in the past had to deal with all sorts of em. :) In this region the likes of DX11/21/27/V50/TX's (tho not the DX7) and also the Kawai K's were well liked because of their "percussivness". I had a friend who loved Kurzweil's but I wasn't a fan. For "scifi" stuff it was insanely good but it had a distinct sound ( meaning that a piano wasn't a piano it was a Kurzweil piano:) ) which I didn't like. I used to be a Roland guy thru and thru ( I even wrote some stuff which made it into some of their arranger keyboards) but lately they suck donkey ballz :( They did something very wrong to their DA stages and now all sound like thin frakkin toilet paper sadly :( I would say that KORG is the deal, nowadays. So many great session players, you've heard them play but people don't recognise them! Certainly not one of them myself but it is my area of work.... My synths are mostly modules - Novation, Waldorf, Modal, IK Multimedia. I have a controller keyboard for them and I just plug in whatever I feel like playing.
