If these haven't happened already, then its VERY unlikely won't happen now. Both because when new "freemium" ship is hinted/announced, its automatically expected to be tier 9-10, AND to act as filler for supershit battles. Tier 7 and below coal ships are just old, outdated premiums WG have no faith anyone sane would buy them with money or even leftover doubloons.

So, yeah. If you want to avoid supershits, you're not interested in some midtier boomerwagons or expendable camouflages, coal is kinda useless currency.

Not really , you can still invest coal into Special Cpt ( Lutjens, Kuznetsov ....) or into Special modules. 

 

Also tbh .... the Aigle is a pretty decent T6 DD for coal, if you havent picked it up for free during the event.

Unique Upgrades are RB only. Besides, if OP had issues with supershits outclapping his own boat, odds are, he would prefer to avoid tier 9+ game for time being. While legendary captains, particularly Kuznetsov is significant force multiplier, getting one without flotilla of premium ships, thus bound to one-two ships will get old fast.

 

Same with Aigle - she's fine boat by tier 6 standards, but I have grounds to believe playing "just for fun", without any goals to achieve will quickly get dull. At the same time, "I want these tier 10s" is facing an obstacle in shape of supershits

Not the Unique upgrades, but those special ones , which boost radar or hydro , or DCP uptime.

Ya what I have done since is I went ahead and bought Gunther Lutjens since I enjoyed German secondary build BB's the most in this game so far and returned to playing the Bismarck in randoms battles, was enjoyable and then I transferred another Commander to the Gneise and played a ranked battle which was also pretty enjoyable so overall I think I've found my happy place in this game.

 

I have no problem playing the Bismarck regularly and would be slow to get fed up with it since it just has a lot going for it, a nice selection of consumables and has attributes to counter a lot of other classes and gimmicks either adequately or very well depending. It's also respectful as a bottom tier ship, is very playable and competitive even as bottom tier, doesn't often get utterly smashed to bits by T10 ships and when it's top tier it can be a total monster. Interestingly enough, because it can see's T6 ships the 380mm caliber guns work out better overall since unlike bigger gun calibers that can overpen the sides of lower tier cruisers, the Bismarcks guns generally don't, and yet still hurts higher tier ships adequately too. Most of all it's a proper balls out BB that can tank shots, take a beating and roll up it's sleeves and get stuck into the enemy team, push flanks like a good BB really should, not just fap about at the back of the map waiting for someone else to make something happen. So ya, a good choice for me and I also have an Odin and a Kurfurst along with some other German premiums I picked up along the way in events etc so he won't be stuck in just the one ship.

 

I also enjoy the Amagi, the North Carolina and from T7 the already mentioned Gneise and the Sinop is a big banger at that tier so ya, overall there's enough for me to still find fun in this game without that disgusting imbalanced feeling. But that's for randoms. For PvP, wayyyyyyy more scope of course and probably any tier is fine but just a bit boring apart from Scenarios.

Nice to see that you managed to spend your resources well :) , if next time you cant decide on what to spend the coal on, just go for Cpt Kuznetsov, his special perk have saved the life of my Vladivostok a good deal of times.
