So I just had a thought regarding the spotting mechanics of the Aircraft carriers. Please forgive me if there is a more appropriate thread / topic. Please bare with me these are initial thoughts and not everything I intend to say is going to be a solution because inevitably there will be a counter argument as i could have overlooked something. And all numbers are just placeholders for proof of concept. Not even sure if that is the right terminology to be used.
My understanding is that the mechanics of the CV are on the side of being a bit unfair to the other players so my thought is going to be to rework the concept of the incoming damage rather than the fact of being detected. My reasoning is that the idea of being spotted my a CV in most cases does not kill you however it limits how you can react to the game and escape the incoming damage from other ships as well as the cv its self
Idea 1 - Maintain the Spotting distances of all Ships vs Planes however apply de-buffs to ships shooting at spotted ships in order to aid in mitigating incoming dmg. These de-buffs could be based on Plane distance to target to ship shooting This still aids in the team knowing where the ships are in the game but increasing survival. I am going to use a 3 x 3 Grid for these examples in an image attached . Note Ship launched Spotter-planes are not affected by this as it is their "job'', therefore all ships spotted by a Spotter Plane and not a squadron from a carrier do not get the benefit of the de-buff on the enemies.
Idea 2 - Is a marking system, CV planes need to Track a target with 3 pings or hold a mark on ship for 5 seconds( Idea of getting the ships bearings), once complete that information is relayed to the team. Up until that point the enemies position is know on map but not visible to players. Just like in a Cyclone. All other Ships will not be visible until marked. Marked Ship stays visible to all players for 35 seconds. This can lead to the introduction of dedicated Spotter consumable that will maintain an area (around 10km) of permanent spotting for As long as it is alive. Therefore CV needs to actively deploy fighters to remove it or a ship need to actively engage the spotter) I see this as being more of a support carrier system however.
