  1. 1. You as a player of World of Warships. Do you want to see Wargaming fully integrate submarines into the game?

    • Not in a million years do I want to see submarines put into the game.

You know the results of such polls in advance. Ask serious players if they want aircraft carriers, submarines or superships: The vast majority are not interested in them or actively oppose their presence in regular game modes. WG knows this as well, and they don't care. This makes polls pointless because they do not deliver news to anybody.

Yes to subs, but remove the homing torps and they can only see ships at periscope depth or on surface.

Whilst we're at it, remove the auto replenishment from above of the 'attack wing' on CVs.

That's the thing indeed. I would like subs in the game, too.
But just not the way WeeGee screws them up...

It might seem obvious but an attack/defend mode for subs would be cool, 12 players escorting a convoy whether the convoy is AI or player controlled and 12 subs attacking the convoy. Basically the same type of set up as randoms but with a victory objective more suitable for submarine inclusion. Team deathmatch with caps doesn't seem to suit subs. They could have it time gated to avoid interfering with the random battle player count too much, e.g. special alert a convoy is leaving port in 3 days time, you have 48 hours to attack/defend it in submarine mode.

I played a couple of sub matches to see what they're like (don't worry I apologised in game) and it didn't feel fun. There was no cool aspect to being a submarine, well the underwater terrain modelling was cool, but it didn't feel any different to being a surface ship except that I was much slower, more complicated to control, and much less potent in killing enemies (but that's just me, I'm sure some people are super unicums with subs).

I would actively like submarines in the game *but* not in their current form.

Pretty much this.

I d like them if they were in their own mode, might accept them (even if not really interested in that kind of play) in Randoms if they were not broken by design, the way they are, well... :Smile_sceptic:

Anyway I voted for sep mode for what ever good it will do...

I agree 100%, same as with CVs. I believe they can be integrated into the game effectively, but WG doesn't seem up to the task, while there are lots of great ideas from the community. WG and listening, though....

Its interesting that more players would prefer subs in a separate game mode, going by the response to this poll so far.

But the players that actively want subs in the game, is still a low percentage.

Me personally, I hate subs, I don't want to play them and I definitely don't want to play against them.

Get rid of stupid homing torps. Make a separate consumable to counter sonar pings. IE get rid of using damage control to counter sonar pings. I need damage control to, actually heal damage, not waste it on stupid sonar pings.

Do these 2 things to subs, and I may play random battles again.

But at the moment, I am boycotting random battles.

Plus as soon as I see a sub in ranked battles, I will quit altogether.

Your loss Wargaming, not mine.

We a had a few good weeks without submarines.  No mate, no carrier, no overmatch, no supership made me rage quit the game. My first direct encounter with a submarine today made me quit. I was allowed to choose, be perma spotted and getting killed by this spotting while also getting HE spammed and pinged or turning into the sub marine and getting killed. No counterplay at all. Submarines dont fit into this game.

The only viable option to delete a submarine from a match, beside a crucial mistake from the player, is to yolo the submarine and hoping to get away with it. The thinking man action game!

In a separate mode yes and that's not because I'm a sub hater but because I don't feel our typical WoWS battle modes suit a submarine.

The reality is a submarine needs time, lots of time to properly go about it's stealthy hunter type of playstyle but our normal battles modes are just too fast for something that needs that amount of time and "chess game" approach. Subs hunt and hit unsuspecting targets, set traps but in our normal battle modes we have DD's and CV's along with radar and fast cruisers spotting each other all the time and what happens to ships that get spotted? That's right, they either A. relocate or B. get killed, both of which translates into a class such a submarine having no target to hit and the sub players invested time spent stalking and hunting that target and getting into position was all for nothing and a really defeating feeling, total waste of time obviously.

The only way to implement a submarine into our current battle modes is to basically make them hilariously un-submarine like, very arcade to meme levels of ridiculous, racing about like jet-skis and launching torpedoes that home in on targets to unavoidable levels like some ACME cartoon where the rocks falling from the cliff and the Coyote runs left, runs right but makes no difference because the rock lands on him no matter what he does lol. So ya, in our fast paced typical battle modes, sadly I just can't see how a class that needs a lot of time and also needs unspotted and unsuspecting targets in order to properly replicate that submarine feeling can ever be achieved. Otherwise it's just some meme that's either unfun to play or over-powered or both whereby you have tiny little moments of very over-powered success with large amounts of boring and frustrating "doing nothing" moments.

I personally would like to see subs over superships, I know I know, it's not the question, but I think it illustrates the point that (at least for me) the initial punch behind the statement "WE DO NOT WANT SUBS" has worn down. I rather see superships as the new real threat to randoms. Just my 50 cents.

In WW2 and even WW1 then submarines basically commerce raiders attacking enemy convoy shipping.

german u-boats in Atlantic

us subs in pacific.

basically because submarines too slow to participate in fleet actions.

has only been with the introduction of nuclear power that submarines been able to effectively work in conjunction with fleets.

so some sort of convoy mode with one side protecting a convoy and the other side submarines trying to since them would work.

otherwise really shoehorning them into the game.

Honestly it doesnt matter what we say or suggest here, lets say these results are representative and 10% of playerbase wants subs, WG knows that IDK say 20% of those are ready to shell out some cash for premiums, early access etc… Thats the x number of players willing to give money to WG for them and marketing wants it… As for the rest you have “silent majority” that doesnt give a ff about anything and hardcore addicts that are invested to pathological levels and additionally WG feeds us all prem time and only premium time from various giveaways for ages so we maybe stick around and use it while they didnt give away anything they could actually sell to us…

TLDR subs will be forced down our throats no matter what, just as superships, we can stick around or leave

Sadly, WG doesn't care, the devs are bent on destroying Randoms. But I voted for own mode. Would be great if there were a separate mode/game based around submarines. Lots of us would play that.

10% is not a low percentage for a specific class. Although the question was about subs in general, not the current implementation. For the latter the percentage is likely to be quite lower.

I don't know ... met some subs yesterday in 2 games first time this patch. One was actively trying to land pings on me (Khabarovsk) he got 2 in but he never hit a torpedo. The main issue was the spotting. So in the current form it is about as useful as an Asashio (or less Asashio can still use guns from smoke if torps are not applicable).

I think the best would be a separate convoy mode. The problem is, WG never got any asymmetric mode right, NONE, not one.

separate game mode.

After all, a Convoy battle is planned/in the game. Why not have 7 against 7 where one side consists of DDs and the other of subs. add a convoy of transports.

I find it really funny, that as more players vote in the poll.

The percentage of players that choose option 2 " Yes, I would love to see submarines fully integrated into the game " GETS LESS AND LESS.

Currently less than 9%.

WARGAMING, WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO WAKE UP TOP THE FACT THAT NOBODY WANTS SUBS IN THE GAME EXCEPT YOU?

You've missed the simplest question with the most obvious answer, which at the same time is the only relevant one since WG doesn't give a hoot about any others:

Will it make WG a crapload of *Monney??!!1*

[X] Yes!

[X] OOOOh yes!!1

[X] Duh!

[X] Yeah BABY!

[X] All of the above!!!11!

When I see a MM without CV, submarines and suuuperships, I think "Oh, this could be an interesting and enjoyable game where skill decides the outcome."

When I see a MM including those crap classes, it becomes a clown show consisting of PvE mechanics, lack of counterplay and griefing.
