Can we have the option to replace this guy with a different commander with the same skills? I like his skills, but not so much his name, his face, or his voice.

Some friends feel the same (for whatever reason) and they just dismissed him. Should I do the same? Any advice?

No you can not exchange him. But since the collab ended he might end up like John Doe aka Steven Segul and get replaced by a generic commander. Dismissing him will just oose you one of the games best commanders.

You can use this mod but it will also affect some other commanders. You can find it in  modstation as "Historical Unique commanders".

These 'political' type threads are really getting annoying now

Call it what you may, but my question is sincere. I don't like having two 21-point commanders with strong perks that I cannot stand using. I'd prefer not using mods that affect other commanders.

This is gameplay-related and so completely on topic on this forum.

Well, the portrait can be changed with mods, but the voice is a little more difficult. As I understand it, it's the National+ setting that allows you to hear the special commander voices. Changing these settings will likely solve that problem, but as with the mods, it will affect the other captains as well.

Just keep ignoring...

Not easy when in a ranked playing a Sinop, which so totally offended one spotty little oik that he filled the chat with a load of abuse about me playing a Russian ship and got really p'd off and turned it into wanting to perform on my sisters after I pointed out he was playing a Nazi battleship :Smile_Default:

A quick look in the 'mods' section revealed this thread:

Might still work was last updated 2020.

We know of the situation at the moment and possible actions are being discussed.

On February 26, 2022, amidst the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Creative Director of Wargaming Sergey Burkatovskiy resigned from the company due to his support for the war.[47] Following his resignation, Wargaming made the statement that "Sergey is an employee of the company and expressed his personal opinion, which categorically does not coincide with the position of the company. All our staff are now focused on helping our over 550 colleagues from Kiev and their families... Sergei's opinion is in complete contradiction with the company's position. He is no longer an employee of Wargaming."[48][49]

What just because he's Russian? Whatever could anybody have against Russians?! Hating on Russia like that is simply unfair and ridiculous.

Just use The Mighty Jingles audio overlay or the Ovechkin voiceover remover from the Aslain mod pack. The enhanced SE skill is just too valuable.

Spoiler

I mean if you keep playing this RUSSIAN game in the first place.

Will the "new version" go on sale sometime if that is done ? I have one of them (USN version) and I can only echo the OPs viewpoint, good skills, don't like the voice ...

Also should he be replaced by a generic commander, will the dual-nation version still exist in that case ?

No nation is inherently evil and no nation is exclusively good. It is refreshing to see WG caring for their staff and their families. We all play at war here - the real thing is something I had hoped I would never see.

No sane person (or at least nobody who is not very naive) hopes to see that.

Ukrainian tech tree branch when?

I mean we all know "historical accuracy" is at most a spotty fig leaf in this game anyway.

This quoted statement from Wargaming does indeed sound uplifting, but I can't help but to note that it leaves unsaid exactly what the position of the company is. I would welcome further clarification from their side.

I would also be grateful for a link to a full translation of their original statetements, if that is available?

Best regards!
