shells falling far too short

Ive been seeing this for the last few patches. The map reticle is spot on, the ui reticle is spot on - and yet, im landing tens of meters too short with the entire salvo.

Just now have this happen to me in my cleveland while fighting a DD (because of this, he survived that much longer and was able to let loose a torp salvo and sink a cruiser of ours). In the same game and not one minute later, against a Rahmat (was able to chunk me for a fourth of my health because of this).

 

I mean, its fine if it happens every once in a while, but its been happening more and more often and its getting frustrating to have it happen.

Yes i notice this a lot, i had a DD 4km away and shells were dropping short, plus numerous other times

Frankly, I'm having more problems with WG's 'creative' target ship angle discrepancy between what you see in the binocular view and what the angle actually is in reality. As a result, if anything, I tend to overshoot the target a lot.

It certainly doesn't offer much "assistance" as in a positive aspect :D

 

I love especially situations where a cruiser is spamming me (in a BB) but he's showing a bit too much broadside. And backing away from me, lets say range 10-12km. Reasonably short distance for a near static target.

 

Salvo 1:  Aimed at the bow plating in order to pen and hopefully go through front citadel armor. Horizontal aim about 1/4 from the waterline. - All shells into the water WAAAY before

Salvo 2: Same place, just now at deck height: Most shells into the water

Salvo 3: Screw aiming anywhere precise, aim just above deck on the arse of the cruiser and just score ANY sort of structural hits!

 

Feels frustrating.

It happened to me a couple of days ago, certainly the first time I went wtf since this was reported.

I can't say I've suffered it otherwise. Awful salvoes are generally easily explainable by the ship I'm sailing (yes, I'm looking at you, FdG). If the ship has good accuracy (NCal, Missouri) salvoes pretty much work as intended.

Intentional imo. Its another balance addition. (its been going on for too long now)

You know like over penning a BB at 13klm with 152 mm rounds in your cruiser.

ive been noticing weirdness in that department as well ... I guestimate the server simply not registering or calculating due to overload, tends to happen when the game is at a pitched point.

judging by the server tick rate problem and the problems noted here - it looks like the potato servers at wedgie are in need of a serious upgrade - this wont fix the aimbot problem but its a start at least

same -  truly awful today - literally have to aim above the ship to have a chance to hit it when it's running broadside at at medium range

It has been happening a lot recently for me as well, and it's because the guns arent locking onto the target properly, meaning I have to manually click X to get a lock.
This is very annoying to deal with when swapping targets, especially for rapid firing guns with multiple available targets.

Ive gotten into the habit of always explicitly checking if its selected or not (cant trust wedgies autoselect mechanic - go figure). Its when im shooting the guy the whole time - just sometimes, it falls far too short; and thats happening much more frequently, I feel

You could say ''bad aim'' or ''Republique dispersion being trash'', but that does not really explain what is happening. The shells falling short is causing the greatest grief here.

i remember people complaining about this bug WAY back in the Closed Beta,  and WG keep flip flopping between 'there is no bug' to 'we are aware and investigating' to 'we fixed it ' every few patches or so

Well i cant show you as i`m keeping only last 15 replays (game default) but i had better one ... 9km distance and out of 6 shells, 4 dropped short and 2 went over!???????????!

Like warning shot "surrender, you are surrounded!"

 

Also i`m not sure that this is a bug as wg would react at least with statement but they are so quiet about that.
