I am quite annoyed with the F. Sherman ship distribution!

Watching the first review vids about the new T10 DD, I was quite happy that she ship's combat performance actually will be as projected.

I was quite satisfied having collected the full amount of coal over the past months, participating several events, and even spent some doubloons for the new year containers.

 

And now... I won't get it. Because the WG customer happiness department believes it would be good idea to firstly distribute the ship among loot boxes (the new firepower container we cannot await) and after two weeks of gambling, I will be able to get rid of my coal.

 

So, do you - Mr. WG - really think, it is a good idea, to affront the playerbase by proposing to spend more doubloons over period X before finally spending the coal?  Even from a sales management perspective, It totally does not make sense to separate those two channels. The only success you create is customer frustration.

I dont know what the method is, but if it is early access through lootboxes, then coal: im all for that.

Im simply gonna get it with coal, while anyone who wishes to get it sooner can help finance WG.

I dont see the drawback for me.

Presumably, they know that quite a few people want Sherman; I imagine a fair number of them will buy loot boxes to avoid having to wait for those extra two weeks.

I actually think that if WG need to make a certain amount money, it's preferable that it gives early access to ships rather than exclusive access in a pay-to-win way. 

 

I'm not as upset about this and auctions as some but it is annoying to have to wait.

It would be so hilarious if the infrastructure and game client were set up so bass ackwards that a team of say 5 Forrest Gumps could effectively DDoS the server

The way the game develops lately greatly benefits patient players.

 

On the other hand, it is great that those impatient ones cannot help themselves but to throw money at wg. The alternative (contrary to some false expectations) would not be 'free stuff' but paywall stuff

And the reason for that is not because I am not willing to wait but there is no substantial point in doing this. If you want to milk the player base then offer these boxes in parallel. And yes, maybe there will be players hoping to get the F. Sherman with a 0.5% probability chance (that is the actual number). However what is the reason of excluding the majority of the player base? You cannot pay for the exclusiveness (as you could have done this for Schlieffen or other T10s during the events).

If you already have the other ships and depending on the numbers of containers we will be able to receive, chances will actually be a lot better than that. 

 

But that is not the point. 

 

As long as they don't put it behind a true pay wall, like AL Sov. Rossiya and G. Verdi. for example, you shouldn't act like a spoiled brat.

Since you seem to believe that this is a viable solution, Please explain to me what motivation someone that can afford to gamble for it with the the boxes would have to purchase them, at all, if then can simply spend a few weeks worth of easily grindable coal and have it, 100% guaranteed?  Why should someone play a lottery for a prize, when they can just buy the prize for less than the price of a ticket?

Bottom line: Wargaming is in this to make money first and foremost, just like every other business, and they will optimize their marketing to make sure they make as much as possible, just like every other business..  They are not the Caritas /Salvation Army or any other charitable organization. 

Now, if you don´t like how they earn their money, then simply don´t pay them and don´t support them by offering yourself as a target for other players to shoot at.

But whining about how others that do pay money and therefore keep the company and the game running get stuff before you do only makes you come off as entitled and pompous.  It´s very much akin to people complaining about a doctor who owns a  Ferrari IRL just because they can´t afford one on a Pizza-delivery wage when they spend all their free time smoking weed and playing video games. ;)

It's only that chance if you have none of the ships on the list (assuming the ships all have an equal chance of dropping):

 

I would think most old lags at least will have at least half of that lot (especially given that two of them are the latest silver-to-gold transition ships)?

 

Personally, I'm looking at a 1 in 20 chance of getting Sherman...

Are you sure about this?

Compensation rules were changed and out side of Santa crates, if you role a ship you already have you will get a random item.

In Santa crates, you get a ship if you rolled a ship first time but I don't think that is the case for other containers
