[SYTHE] yagron_the_real Players 76 posts 4,822 battles Report post #1 Posted February 1, 2022 What you think? Plymouth is not hugely popular as a steel ship, and moving her over to the coal selection would certainly help in that regard. WG have done this move in the past. Also this would give the RN a high tier coal ship. So will it happen? Should it? What price would you consider reasonable?
[TACHA] triumphgt6 Players 1,870 posts 22,637 battles Report post #2 Posted February 1, 2022 Too soon I think - good ship - plays like Edinburgh but with radar and smoke - fragile and radar could be slightly longer range as at TX but still fun ship.
SodaBubbles Players 1,553 posts 1,028 battles Report post #3 Posted February 1, 2022 Same as above. Needs more range, but lots of fun. As for coal, we need more coal ships. Always a good idea.
[SHAD] Miscommunication_dept Players 5,512 posts 24,441 battles Report post #4 Posted February 1, 2022 Moving steel ships to coal is a bit poor for those who paid steel. Plymouth is surely better than Austin? I have neither but just from what I’ve seen.

Mad_Dog_Dante Players 6,636 posts Report post #6 Posted February 1, 2022 Yup. Great idea. I bought the Flint for steel, and the Black, and feel stupid for buying those for steel already. One more can only make me feel more of an idiot. 2
[RO-RN] Animalul2012 Players 1,345 posts 21,361 battles Report post #7 Posted February 1, 2022 Maybe they should ask themselfs why is it not so popular? Maybe the ships needs a buff? Maybe is not fun to not have HE and getting devastated by everything once you are spotted? Maybe they should start buffing some ships instead of letting them rot in the port, I am looking at you fen yang.

It feels like a much larger des moines with two thirds the dpm, pretty useless smoke and no radar. It blaps DDs beautifully but is quite limited in both it's dpm and armour
[SYTHE] yagron_the_real Players 76 posts 4,822 battles Report post #9 Posted February 1, 2022 I don't think it's a bad ship (I don't have it tho), but it seems most people consider the other options are better. Also it seems steel ships are released faster than one can earn steel. So only people who have Plymouth are seemingly the few who are swimming in steel, or emotionally connected to the playstyle, the RN flag or the city... @Europizza that's a valid concern, and I do not know a good solution.

I'm never swimming in steel, it's a rare resource for me. That is why i carefully pick ships I really like, which all somehow always the ships that get turned into coal or are unpopular. I only have Black, Flint and Plymouth as 'steel' ships. I like the Plymouth due to it's toolset that is great for supporting DD's and caps. It's a great ship for teamplayers, which makes it a stupid ship for most I guess. It has abysmal avg damage of all T10 cruisers for the EU server, so I wouldn't mind a reload buff :P Why everybody and their mother buys Stalingrads even when they hate the playstyle of that ship, is a mystery to me. But then again, I'm the same idiot who picked the Hayate over the Smaland 1 week before they announced the withdrawl of the Smaland becasue I genuinly like it better and don't care for radar DD's.

_HomTanks_ Players 3,368 posts 37,429 battles Report post #12 Posted February 1, 2022 What wg did with Flint and Black removing them from steel to coal was a mistake. Two mistakes don't make a right, hence if you want to have Plymouth, get it the right way by putting some effort to collect steel.

[777TH] MaxGct Players 39 posts 19,335 battles Report post #15 Posted February 1, 2022 Plymouth is hugely underrated and was my first steel ship. It's utility in randoms with so many consumables is excellent, as long as there is something spotting for you. The ability to also drop a 54 second radar and smoke is very powerful, specifically against enemy dd's.

[VIBES] tocqueville8 Players 3,717 posts 39,413 battles Report post #18 Posted February 1, 2022 Just improve the turret angles. The Plymouth is very good in some circumstances, but she's already severely limited by her armament (no HE, few torps, mediocre AA). Good turret angles would at least make her a lot more comfortable, as well as a bit safer: she wouldn't need to show as much broadside when smoked up, giving torpedoes a smaller target. You should use bigger font as your post is hardly noticeable. And if you bothered to actually read a post, this was not an announcement but proposal by player. Also if WG decide to do something like this you can expect exactly the same compensation as for Flint. Black and Neustra ... and that is absolutely nothing. 1

I doubt It would not cost less than it would be required to get it by resetting lines using FXP.

Mind the average damage is "average". I get around 80-100K in a game. But average, I get blapped (duh) so that is why. 19 hours ago, Europizza said: Why everybody and their mother buys Stalingrads even when they hate the playstyle of that ship, is a mystery to me.
