The Royal Navy has always allowed beards, but never mustaches. For the last century it has had an all or nothing policy on facial hair. You grow a full beard and mustache set, or you shave. No half measures. If the captain decides your beard is not up to an acceptable standard, he even can order it to be shaved off. We cannot have British captains wearing mustaches without propper support, think of the dangers! They could get confused with a walrus and shot by the lookouts! Wargaming needs to fix the Royal Navy captain portraits before this unhistorical mustache insanity can bring dishour, and anarchy, to the entire British nation! Also, once you got permission to go for the 'full set' in the RN, the clock began ticking and you had only 2 weeks (I think) to pass the Captains inspection - and subsequent decision as to whether it stayed or not. Well, more proper faces for crews, when we are able, though not sure if image showing the officer 1 month into his 6 month "beard growing period" would not be shocking (after getting a permission to grow a beard, the sailor had 6 months. If the result is not satisfactory, he has to shave). Besides, you see a captain of HMS Warspite detached to some forsaken corner of Earth, fighting alongside the Americans, Japanese and Soviets. Even if there wasn't a shaving-appliance, they'd just nibble their beards accurate. It's like saying "english lawn grows when you're in holiday". It doesn't. After the compulsory steam-like shower the next morning I was ordered by Skeletor (Royal Marine CSM) to shave, I pointed out I wasn't allowed to without CO's permission but he convinced me of the validity of his argument with 28 laps of the parade ground with a broom held above my head. To be fair, navy style, my Skipper only fined me £250 for shaving without permission, I got 14 days No.9 punishment for the bar brawl and 21 days No.10 puns for getting caught, old skool Captain! 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
