Unspotting cheating, does it exist?

In my last games i've noticed something strange. Some time others spot a ship and i rush to them, but when i'm near them they go unspotted. If the ships was only dd i may understand but that heppens with bb too, in my last game an hindenburg was near me at 4km of distance without any cover or smoke to shield him and i was unable to spot him, however my smoke was useless, but these maybe was an effect of some radar or something that i didn't see.

So i'm asking, does some unspotting cheat exist?

You were in a smoke yourself? Smoke works both ways. And if you shoot in smoke, you will be spotted further away.

If you are in your smoke, you can't spot ships outside of it yourself, e.g. a Hindenburg 4km away. But the Hindenburg can use a Hydro with 6km range to spot you inside your smoke.

There is no such cheat. And if you gave us a screenshot or replay we could explain you what happened.

If you could attach the replay file, we could tell for sure.

Remember you can be spotted by:

1) surface detection, which increases when A) shooting, B) on fire (regardless of the number of fires)

2) air detection, see above

3) hydro

4) radar

5) proximity (2 km)

6) smoke firing penalty, tipically 3-4 km for DDs, 5-7 km for CLs, 8-10 km for CAs, 15+ for BBs. The smoke works either way, as long as there is some smoked-up area along the line of sight between you and the enemy. The amount of smoke, of simplicity, doesn't matter.

2, 3, 4, 5 show a distinct icon, but 1 and 6 do not, so they can be confused: always keep track of where the smokescreen is.

I know what he wrote.

We have enough people on these forum reporting on changes and things "that never worked that way before", but are features since 2015.

This is true, but in this guy's case he already wrote it's new to him and sorry for not knowing it or at least that's what i understood.

Have you not perhaps realised that this guy hasn't been around that long?

There is. A famous cheater on NA was busted using it. Was a common div mate of Femmenly, who had to have known he was using that cheat.

Don't suppose you've got a link to any information about this "famous cheater", because it's not obviously showing up through google searches (though I can find dozens of the classic "I was shot by this guy at 15km when turning, he must be hacking/I fired torps and the ship turned straight away" posts).  Very few posts about "I launched torps and the target kept straightlining and ate a couple" or "someone fired at me and missed" - it's just a massive exercise in confirmation bias.

I did not claim he did. I just explained why that is not new...

It's from quite a long time ago (2017), and is only a low-res screenshot so you can't see anything about it showing unspotted ships (the linked twitch clips are long dead so can't check those either).  It does show cheating though, but only using the usual stuff that no-one argues doesn't exist (torpedo/shell indicators from spotted armaments, aim predictor for ships moving at existing speed/angle).

Thank you for the video. Looks like the standard cheats.

The unspotted ships in the video are unspotted, they just have a more visible font on the minimap. There is also the prediction outline for the spotted ships, which one could interpret as unspotted ships, which they are not.
