Poor accuracy, placebo radar, good armor, decent aa, fast shells.

Pretty much this. However it gets better at t9+.

Until then you have mostly kiting cruisers with long range and fast shells. If you dodge and speed juke correctly you should be able to kite quite well with them.

Love the Tallinn, hated Riga and think the Petro is over rated.   If I had to choose just one of the Russian cruisers it would be Tallinn.

its russian, what do you think

Well... being Russian is not a healthy thing for a ship, as it seems. How does Giulio Cesare lose 5.4k HP after being "upgraded" (and uptiered) by the Russians? :Smile_amazed:

This is exactly what I do now. I just keep pumping out shots and hoping for the best.

I'm currently on the Budyonny and I'm really enjoying this ship. I want to get the petro so what can I expect from this line?

If you like Buddy, you will enjoy Schors and Chapayev even more. These are all light armored medium to long range kiters, Chapa has good radar and a hydro and is surpisingly versatile and lots of fun. I did not enjoy the Tallinin or Riga, even though the Riga was a better experience compared to the Donskoi. Donskoi very meh.

As for the tier X's, I didn't play much Petro nor Nevsky. Gut feeling: for me Nevsky seems more fun, very personal. Petro feels kinda stale like the Stalingrad seems stale for me when I look at how it's played. I simply don't enjoy that playstyle.

Do you really think the Petro is overrated?

how does a Petropavlovsk only 220mm guns penetrate everything? when in reality they should be crap

A Nevsky is pretty fun and I can recommend it. Not sure if I will grind the Petro. The static game play is not appealing and I have a Des M for that.

I don’t fear seeing petro in games.   Too many people have it that believe it is invincible and sail stupidly in it and surprised when get blapped.

still want to avoid giving broadside,   It may have low freeboard but you can still be damaged and will still take fire damage.

I prefer the CL Soviet cruisers to the CA but I do play conservatively.

radar range is longer on them but shorter duration, and I prefer the longer spotting time of the shorter range radar.

Definitely,  especially in modes like ranked, I find it’s guns inconsistent and when 1vs 1 against an Hindenburg etc it’s game over as soon as you get into Torp range.    You tend to see most Petro’s propped up against an island tanking.  And usually dying 😉.

 Petro’s my least played T10.

Why would you ever get into torp range of a Hindenburg with a Petro? You sit somewhere angled and draw all the fire from your fragile teammates, getting the occasional citadel because of the AP angles. Bonus points if you are kiting when the need arises. Dying is part of the plan, although preferably you stay alive so that you can try to stop your team from throwing the match.

Petro is indispensable in cbs, less so in other game modes. If you like the kiting playstyle of budyonny, fair warning, petro is nothing like that. Nevsky line may be more up your alley. If you like playing fairly statically and defending positions, petro is very good at that.

How many times have you seen a Petro die to a Hindi’s torps ? .  Petro is mainly seen static in game, popping radar, yes no ?.

Yes, but you suggested a Petro actually moving up to get into torp range... I've already explained how to play Petro properly. Not that her radar is very active to begin with.

Hardly. It's more it's played by potato's who have bought onto the Russian bais of it being invincible. It's one of the most dangerous T10 ships there is due to its pure ability to swing a game on a penny. Most utility boats are more dangerous than none utility and Petro is a beast.

Then my Petro must be defective, as she holds only 48% hit rate :cap_old:

Overrated and strong aren't mutually exclusive.

Me too. Grinded forever and then it made a bleak impression. I think it is very hyped up among players. I had more fun in Riga and it's AP.

I always wonder why Petropavlosk hits harder than, Scharnhorst? it's ridiculous! is it just because it's Russian? what's WG logic?
