Best Tier 6 tech-tree ships to play in Operations?

Hi, what are the best T6 tech-tree ships to play in Operations?

 

I'm battleship player and i like playing Warspite as premium ship. I'm looking for a tech tree ship to play in Operations.

 

I have interested about Mackensen. I'm currently at T5 on this tech-tree. I'd like to run full secondary build with it if secondaries are decent.

I liked the Nurnberg , because of the long range, fast reload and built-in IFHE. I am sure someone gonna suggest the Leander too.

Hi. Mackensen is a good ship, but her secondaries have actually low dpm. And part of that dpm comes sadly from her 88 mm guns, that have only 15 mm pen. So they do not do so much damage.

 

Bayern looks better for scenarios. Stronger main battery, useful secondary, better AA and speed 25 knots is sufficient.

Warpie is alright, though she can be dismantled under incoming CA HE fire. Fuso and Normandie would be also a good pick. P. E. Friedrich with secondary captain can be fun, if tad underwhelming in main gun department.

 

Nurnberg, Leander, Pensacola and Budyonny would be solid cruiser picks too.

Varies a bit with the Op; I tend to think along the following lines though (in PvP, I'm a DD main FWIW):

• Avoid DDs, unless you're spectacularly good in them (I'm not).
• Does it have a heal? I generally do better if it does; the exception is Narai, which doesn't apply as you asked about T6.
• Don't forget about CVs; Ops can be one of the few places you can play one with a clear conscience (all of the non-Russian T6s are worthwhile for this; not sure about the Russian yet, as I haven't played it enough).
• If you already like Warspite, QE is similarly good whilst the former is on cool-down.
• Most T6 BBs work well in Ops, although I avoid the Italian (too flaky), and US (too slow) ones generally.
• Both British T6 silver cruisers are good, especially Leander.
• I usually focus on premium ships though; Ops is why T6 ones are worth having if you can bag them for free or cheaply - maximum return on your playing time.

I'm having a lot of fun with the Mackensen, but (imo) many silver DDs and BBs are not that well-suited for Ops.

 

Regarding cruisers and CVs :

(top 3 silver)

 

Pensacola, Nurnberg, LaGal.

Ryujo, Ranger, Serov.

DDs: avoid like plague unless you want to hinder your team

Iteresting question,  i kept only few T6 boats and i use them rarely.

 

BBs

Mackensen (28 speed at T6!)

Fuso (21 km range)

 

Cruisers

Nurnberg (16.5 range and 360° back turrets)

 

DDs

Farragut (4 seconds gun reload time)

 

CVs  (i'm not telling you to use CVs!)

Furious (easiest planes to aim)

Serov (few losses by AA fire)

Because of the way operations works a high-DPM ship is most of the time the best choice. So, pick a ship where you can put out damage en masse. 

 

My prefered cruisers are:

1. Molotov (because with IFHE you pen everything with HE and your AP is capable of citadel even BBs)
2. Makarov 
3. Nürnberg
4. Graf Spee
5. Leander

Yeah. Nurn is a bit more universal while Leander is a bit more efficient....when cruisers are involved......as targets.

Molotov is king in Aegis and KW, tho not that good in the rest.

 

As for Bb's I would say Izmail tho Bayern is also good. I don't have the Donkey only Strass.

Fuso, Graf Spee and Ryujo.

 

Generally all ships with an additional heal, good or many guns. Penetration is not much of an issue, most operations have same or low tier enemies, mostly cruisers.

What operation are you talking about? Because it somewhat depends on the operation.

 

Many T6 ships will do, depending on your skill level  and comfort with the ship.

 

For me:

 

Mutsu and Fuso

Dallas

 

I think I have never taken a DD in operations ever (or if I did, it was ages ago).

I've used Dunkerque however its accuracy can be troll. I highly recommend the Repulse, its fast, accurate and hard hitting guns for both HE and AP, It's one of, if not the fastest T6 battleship, it cant take the beating say a Warspite can, but being able to move quickly and angle while dishing out a large amount of pain is very handy.

In general, look for something that's fast and resilient.

 

Bayern may be a good pick. The Nürnberg shall serve you well too, it has the advantage of a decent torpedo loadout along with good guns (their 360° rotation often comes in handy).

Gunnery-wise: the Pensacola may allow you to citadel the first T4 BB in "Raptor's Rescue", but you will have to manage your healthpoints stock well, and it lacks torpedoes.

The Devonshire lacks gun range in some scenarii, especially the Newport defense. But is has heals.

 

The Aoba somewhat lacks rate of fire and ease of target switching (slow reload, slow turret rotation) and the Budjonny doesnt't feel agreeable to me, it won't be my first Ops pick.

 

I cannot say much about the French and Italian techtrees, Normandie and Andrea Doria weren't something to take note off in Ops for me. Neither were the cruisers notable, but this is due to the fact that I do not have playing experience in them.

 

Personally, I had fun with my Ranger in "Killer Whale", a lot of ships offer themselves as torpedo targets, you could also train your bombing on not really potent targets.

PS. The OP asked for tech-tree ships, so why are ships like Dunkerque, Mutsu, Graf Spee, De Grasse etc. mentioned at all? They are premiums, so not that what the OP is asking for.

We all would, but she's not easy to get hold of. 

 

My picks? Queen Elizabeth and Normandie. QE has excellent range with her spotter, is just fast enough to keep up with the action (unlike the Americans: Arizona and WV41 hit very hard but they are just too slow....), her HE will set many fires and her AP is punchy. Build for Fire Prevention, though - the QE's burn like matchwood. Normandie is quick, has worthwhile secondaries and has a 12 gun broadside with the same flaky dispersion as Dunkerque's eight guns. So you can see how that plays out.

 

Premiums? PEF is worth it for the secondary LOLs, Mutsu's torpedoes can be very fun. 

 

Other classes? Leander, Aigle, Ryujo, La Gal, Weser, Kijkduin, Makarov/Nurnberg

      Destroyer I Don't, I'm not good enough, neither are most of those that bring them.

BB's - QE, Bayern, Dunk, Ismail and Fuso are good picks... avoid the Italians and Yanks like the plague, Yanks are too slow and the Italians all have Ray Charles as gunners.

 

Cruisers - best picks IMO are Leander, Nurnberg, Budyonny and Pensacola.. tho I'm not much of a cruiser player tbh.

 

DD's - Best performers for me have been Gaede, Farragut  and perversly enough Gnevny. Both IJN boats and Fushun are a bit too hit and miss for my tastes, Guepard and Vasteras are both unreliable due to lack of smoke and Icarus for me just behaves like a scorned wife.....

You didn't specify type of ships. I am a cruiser main, so I will give my preference on those.

I've been having good results with Nurnberg and Dallas. They both have high rate of fire, as well as utility (hydro, Dallas has DFAA as well). They are both excellent DD killers.

When I play BB's I usually take out the Fuso, which is just a tough old beast, and lots of barrels so you're bound to hit something eventually. 😂
