Then why do you make such outlandish claims?

But I never said that...

Why do you claim such a thing?

I was not debating anything. I was just posting what I got, as do dozens of other people on the forum. I do not see you attacking them.

since when doubting WG official rates is "outlandish claim" ... dude ... wtf wrong with you?

Now more like outlandish claim would be trusting in WG RNG mechanics after they have been repedatelly exposed for shortlists and whatnot.

But I'm past those containers - now I want to know how someone like you (all knowing guy always right) took time from 2015 to end of 2021 to grind Montana , screw Smolensk.

Pro tip if you spent 1% of the time playing you spend on forum here acting like smartass - you would have all T10s including reserach bureau ones and/or steel.

Then again all you have in your life is that WoWs forum, so maybe I'm too harsh on you. You have it hard already.

You made claims about me. That is outlandish.

Looks like you are not very smart, when you need to ask that. I played other ships. As one can see from my stats.

Did you skip logic classes?

And no, other people do not need as long as you to make a post.

Sorry, but I have to react here.

You have written all drop chances in the description:

shot-21.12.10_11.55.47-0572.jpg

And you have to confirm, that you are 18 years and older before purchase:

shot-21.12.10_12.27.41-0674.jpg

You even have a disclaimer, that you are not guaranteed to receive specific in-game items.

You opened 2 Mega containers and 2 Big containers and you received 2 premium ships, so basically 50% drop rate for you.

So, new player here.

Hi everyone!!

After joining WOWS a couple of months back and playing about with tech tree ships, i decided to splash for some santa boxes , 16% for a premium ship in the mega containers seemed quite good.

I realize this is gambling. I am not complaining. I am just adding my own experience here, so i can share with everyone and maybe serve as a cautionary tale .

I bought only santa's mega gifts.  20+20+8+8 , for a total of 56 mega crates.

Now , 16% out of 56 crates, WGs own statistics say i had a chance of 8.96  ships , so *on average*  8-9 ships.

I know - this is not a guarantee etc.. you can easily smash into the pity mechanic every 14 crates.    I get it.

So, in 56 crates i got 4 ships total.       This is equivalent of a 7% ship drop, so i was rather unlucky. It is actually less than half of the expected drop rate of 16%, on a rather large statistical sample (56 boxes).

In fact, i can share that i ran into the pity mechanic 4 times...    4x14 = 56    .

So , experience was not good , consider myself unlucky . Anyway , got the following ships :

1) T5 Mikoyan

2) T6 Arizona

3) T7 Hyga

4) T8 Cheshire

...and that's it.   quite underwhelming tbh...

on the other hand, the % chances for the other drops seemed to be pretty accurate.

for the :

40% special signals : i got 23 drops , so 41% of the times.

Coal

7% Coal drop : i got 5 drops , so 9%

5% doubloons : i got 5 drops, so 9%

16% ship : i got 4 ships, so 7%

now, just look at the doubloons... 5% chance and i got 5 drops. Ships 16% chance and i got 4 drops. Crazy bad luck.

anyway... my advice based on my experience ... STAY away..

this has left a bad taste, kinda put me off ..

happy holidays all.

As far as i know (or as i think i remember correctly) this is not how propabilities work. - you cant just add them up. Its in every container 16%.

And, as you stated before:

No need to get snarky, like i said, i am aware of the gambling aspect of the boxes.

I said, this is just putting out there my experience for others to see also, don't get why you are so negative on this .

Regarding the probabilities, yes of course it is 16% per crate.  Statistically, if you open infinite boxes, 16% of them  should contain a ship.

Scale it down to 56 boxes, 16% of 56 boxes is 8.96 ships. This is very inaccurate, as the sample size is quite small. This is why i said on *average* .

Anyway ,  how would you calculate the average expected return of 16% over 56 boxes ?

You are right, he is wrong.

Probability works exactly like that. Also right when you state that the sample size is too small. I had a clan mate opening 9boxes without a single ship for the first 7 then getting 2 in a row (T5-T7 ships), then buying 20 and getting 4 or 5 ships (still only T5-T7 range). Sadly the probability to get a rare or TX ship amongst the 16% ships is abysmal (1% or what they wrote...). So, shortlist? not really, but a list where some ships have a much higher chance of dropping than others.

I like the stuff you get in the boxes that is "not ships", coal, dubs, premium camo (Asian, lantern and spring) and premium flags (dragon flags).. Even some of the camouflages are great, new year streamer is a great camo.. Also, if you're not done with all Tech Tree lines, these will aid you in getting there faster, earning more credits and whatnot. For us other numpties it is super useful for regrinding lines fast when  doing research bureau resets...  But, I find it useful because it helps me to save TIME, the most precious of all currencies.

Happy sailing

Thanks !

Yes - i was also happy about the camo and signals.. it does speed up tremendously the tech tree grind. I also value time more than anything - having to endlessly battle through the tech tree for very little ship XP gets tedious real fast.

I was not going to mind if santa threw in a couple of nice ships too!

Read it on the portal

Quite Dissappointing really.

It seems you learned absolutely nothing from the Community Outrage.

Another Christmas Event that is only about Gambling.

No Alternative way to get the Ships that are the Bait for Gambling.

And the "additional Children protection" seems to be just that super fine printed warning at the bottom of the Store page which I can barely read on my 26" Monitor. I am sure that is gonna keep Children away from Gambling away all their Money lol

Effectively. The Event is all about Buying Lottery Tickets for the Chance of Rare Ships again.

No matter where you stand on the gambling aspect of lootboxes.

At least they inform you now on the drop chances and they (seem) to have stopped with the total scumbag short list moves like the last few years.

So at least there is something positive.

Hi,

from 20 mega boxes I got this:
30 Scylla, 80 NY Streamer, 60 NY Sky, 90 Dragon, 30 Red Dragon, 90 Leviathan, 25 Type 3 - NY.

Ships: Leningrad, Constellation, W. Virginia 1941 and München.
Not a single rare ship, as expected :) But it's not that bad at all.

Happy gambling guys!

Ive opened my "free" mega gifts (7 pieces from tier X certificates) and obtained a.o. a Tiger 59, Marblehead Lima and 12.500 coal. Really happy with it, i hoped to get one tier 7-8 and got one that i was really interested in, but wouldnt have picked up myself

Hi guys.

Is there some missions I'm missing out on here? I watched the vid and there was lots of talk about being able to get premium days, small Christmas containers, various "fun" things with lots of rewards to grab and things to do but for the life of me the only new events and missions I've seen so far have just been the Marlboro dockyard missions.

Is there more things coming soon or is it just the dockyard missions? Sure, I understand there's the T10 ship tokens for containers too but if you consider the Dockyard is just a typical feature no different than any other time of the year, and you don't have any or many T10 ships, then there's actually nothing new or festive themed missions and rewards to play for in this game? What's with the 3 giants and talk about picking up things over the Christmas season? Is that some later missions and events or did I miss something I could be playing for right now?

Sorry Man. But I know that you are not that Blind. You know exactly that what the Community Cried out about was not the Dropchances but the Gambling.

And its still Gambling.

And Man seriously ? What is that Smallprint. I cant even read that in your Screenshot without putting the Screenshot as Fullscreen. And I am looking at this Page on a 23" Screen.

The Joke is. Even that Warning is written in a way that makes it sound as Harmless as possible which screams in my face that you dont want to call it Gambling and dont want that Warning to be something sounding serious enough that Children would not Buy it.

The Community told you that they dont want to Gamble for stuff.

So why is the Christmas Event yet again all about Gambling Boxes ?

Why is that warning so small that I cant even read it without enlarging it ?

The Joke is. On the Shipyard Event you actually did better this Year. Offering some actual Prices in it for Free. Yet all the Main and Store Page is Plastered with the Gambling Event instead.

Come on Guys. Stop with the Gambling Rubbish. I know that Gambling is Earning Money. Especially because alot of People become addicted and cant stop or because they are unable to actually calculate their chances.

But its Shady Business and something that is going to cause dumpster fires again and again and again.

Are you really going to keep Pushing this until its actually Outlawed in the EU ?

Are you that Desperate for Quick Cash that you cant be a Leading Company in abandoning this Shady Practice and instead have to cling to it until you are Legally forced to stop it ?

If so then at least dont pretend to be outraged by people calling you out over it !

Edit:

Omg I just realized there is a small Checkbox asking if you are 18 Years old.

I just Ignored that because its so normal to Tick a Checkbox when Buying something that I didnt even read that.

I guess thats the New "Children Protection" right ?

Because certainly that 13 Year Old Kid will not Click that Checkbox.....

Now instead of flags I got Perth , Jurua and Pommern , 2500 gold and 12500 coal

Really happy as I really wanted Pommern as it missing from my collection. Overall a good deal. Never heard of Jurua thoug, looks like a very rare ship.

As long as players won't stop bragging about their gambling successes, loot boxes will not go away. Because the next Joe or Jane will think that they might also be lucky.

The only way to make WG stop (eventually) is by not buying any 'gifts'.

I am aware of all the 'commercial business arguments' and am happy to support a legitimate business by purchasing their wares. I have in the past bought several premium ships and I might do again provided WG put something forward that is reasonably priced and not some science-fiction papership monstrosity.

But I will not buy loot boxes, containers, 'Santa's gifts'. Not now, not ever. And if Santa is listening, then he would not be very pleased with his name being drawn into this. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a trademark so he won't be able to express his displeasure through the legal system.

Gambling is a blight on the gaming industry and must be stopped.

pay money, don't pay money

still get to moan either way

i've had a usual WG experience spent my dubs accumulated through the year plus T10 snowflakes

3 mega - 1 ship

many others - 7 ships

like the Aigle not to arsed about the Ark Royal - as a CV it gets insta sold, Mysore, Jurua, Huang, Boise, Texas and of course Molotov

plus finally enough coal for the Napoli

doesn't change the fact that this is an excellent game being run/sold/monetised by an average company

In 1 crate I found Marblehead Lima.

I already owned Marblehead.

Yes, because WG listed Marblehead AND Marblehead Lima in the group of ships that can be found in the santa crates, regardless of they are clones, only the camo is different.

I feel fooled.

So guys dont spend money in this game!!!
