Don't forget, there is only one to blame if you buy the crates and don't get what you want....

YOU YOURSELF

Don't spend any money on this if you are not prepared to lose it! It's gambling with certainty for a win after XX crates, so the sunken cost fallacy is even bigger this year than last year!

sunken cost fallacy explained:

Spoiler

Trick 2: Sunk Costs Effect

This one can be summed up as throwing good money after bad. For reasons I cannot fathom, people will use the money they’ve already wasted on gambling as a justification for spending more money on the same exact failed enterprise. They’ll sit there and cry “I can’t let all that money I’ve already spent on this be for nothing!” and they’ll shovel more legal tender into the fire. Because they think the money’s not “lost” until they give up.

So, game designers, if you want to leverage this to sell more loot boxes, you gotta remind people how much they have spent without getting a good payoff. Show it right there on the screen. Red font. Bold red font. People will be more likely to keep paying until they win what they want.

And here’s a bonus bit of evil for you: The sunk cost effect happens most often when people feel like they can recoup their losses, like in a casino. If you really want to twist the knife –and I heartily recommend twisting knives at every opportunity– offer players a chance to win back 20% of their recent expenditures when they unbox something of legendary quality or whatever. They’ll spend way more money than they’ll ever get back.

100% agree, I will probably spend some money, but not too much, have too many ships to play as it is!

I only took the big containers with new year certificates. took 4-5 of them , not a single ship / premium /anything valuable only flags.

Only thing i bought this year was a couple of weekend premium time , Dunkerque Black and 60 days of premium. Not going to support anything related  to gambling.

I think I spent enough already , my wallet will be closed for the remainder of this year.

I bet chance of getting ship is lower that past years .

My advise to anyone who want to buy some gifts , WAIT first check YouTubers like Flamu , Flambass , SeaRaptor,IChase, basically any video that show opening of santas containers , cause I dont trust WG .

After I will grind new german T10 bb I will have 49 certificates , I will take big containers ... but I wont open those now , I will save them for Christmas , I have 6k db I dunno I might spend some cash to get 20 or more big gifts , but all depend if there will be some scam or not.

(BTW last year all YTbers was saying that big gifts are most worth it cause of price to reword ratio I bet that WG this year have rig odds that mega gift was most worth it = mega gift have chance same as big gift last year )

The research that was done using community statistics showed that the odds for the crates are correct and did not change.

There is no shortlist. Unless you considered the endless flood of T5-7 ships to be a shortlist. Don't go into these crates expecting anything and you will not be disappointed.

Obtaining Certificates require having T10 ships. Nice touch as usual, you devs never lost it. Although, it's most likely a feature born from not many of the playerbase actually having T10 ships and even fewer with a large amounts of T10 ships. In other words, you will only end up gifting a small % of the playerbase ships and of those, most won't actually care because they probably already have them or wouldn't play anything less than T8 right? Can't be gifting away lots of free premiums now can we? Got it.

I 100% agree with the OP.

Despite the fact that for the first time (i had 16 certificates) i gave 10 for two giga containers and got Tiger 59 and De Grasse and the rest 6 i spent them on medium containers and got nothing this gammpling game MUST STOP. Its ilegal against EU's laws about addiction to gamling espesialy when a game adresses to under aged (under 18 years old) children....

What? You can get a T10 in 200 battles in Randoms. Without paying and without having to be a good player. This has nothing to do with who has them or not. But I recall you found it unfair for people with T10s to get supercontainers too, so...

Ya same thing and I think you mentioned the same thing then too if memory serves me correctly.

So you're suggesting most the playerbase has lots of T10 ships? Not just T10 ships but LOTS of T10 ships at that to avail of a decent haul of supercontainers, Christmas crates and anything else that gets pegged onto T10 ships?

You are always more likely to get ships from the T5-7 bracket, especially if you do not have all of them... There is no shortlist because they don't need a shortlist if the chances for T5-7 are so much higher. Also, I do not believe Sims was even on the list last time.

Yes. Steelwhaling says 207k certificates can be collected and there are about 40-50k players active on all servers combined. That is 4-5 T10s per player at least (and 8 or more if that is just for EU), and most probably have more. T10 is what people rush towards and for which money is spent. So it is only natural that WG incentives getting there even more, even though it ruins quality of play in the process. They changed the rules this year because people would complain about small Santa boxes not getting them anything, so now you can get the big and mega boxes for free as well.

Who is "Steelwhaling".

Also, if rewarding those who pay money is the theory, which is kinda flawed logic since these are all free tech tree ships so a lot of players might have got them simply by throwing time at the problem rather than money. Sure, a certain amount will pay money for premium time but if this T10 ship requirement was truly aimed at WG's most valued customers, which are obviously paying customers, then wouldn't that be a case of pegging the certificate requirements on T8 and T9 premium ships since those cost real money instead?

The logic is heavily flawed and if the number of T10 ships is the measuring stick by which customers are valued by WG then they're even more braindead than I first thought. Also, and you even eluded to it, one of the biggest complaints in this game by established players is noob shitters flooding higher tiers, yet with the top rewards set as "T10 ships only", obviously serves to encourage this outcome beyond natural progression. Sure, noobs can instantly buy a T8 and T9 premium too, and that's even faster than power-grinding obviously but at least they've paid for the privilege if your theory is this is just rewarding paying thus most valued customers.

The system just seems flawed by logic. This isn't even a rant or whine since I don't even play this game a whole lot, only recently returned, just sharing my observations. Also, since you outlined its so easy to quickly grind T10 ships then the argument for "rewarding the most loyal and those that deserve it most" is debunked too.

Sorry, but I have to react here.

You have written all drop chances in the description:

shot-21.12.10_11.55.47-0572.jpg

And you have to confirm, that you are 18 years and older before purchase:

shot-21.12.10_12.27.41-0674.jpg

You even have a disclaimer, that you are not guaranteed to receive specific in-game items.

You opened 2 Mega containers and 2 Big containers and you received 2 premium ships, so basically 50% drop rate for you.

Steelwhaling is the website that lets you track how far you are with your snowflakes. You pay much more money grinding to T10 than buying a premium ship. People want the highest tier because it is the best in their eyes. Loyalty is rewarded with crates for the people who do it without money. So you get two flies in one stroke. The whole snowflake event is based on ''rewarding'' those who buy the most and those who have been here so long that they already have all the tech tree ships. WG uses statistics to balance and decided their actions. So they are going to draw as much money out of us as possible. At the end of the day, it is all free goodies to draw us in to spend money and play more.

The steel for snowflakes are more useful to begin with, considering most crates don't drop anything good. So you are not missing out.

There is no shortlist. Been acknowledged formally many times in forums.

Edit: Tough the ship list is a long one with many low level ships.

I hate that people act up so badly now, while WG has made serious improvements lately.

There is still a lot of room for improvement- so lets be constructive.

Lets point out what we like & dont, while not bashing too much.
