Hi Everybody,

hopefully someone figured it out already. My question is:

Is it possible to participate in the New Year fleet Event without buying Starter-Packs for the Dockyard Event?

We got following Infos:

  • In Update 0.10.11, five themed groups of the New Year Navy combat missions will become available. To complete them, you need to obtain flag_United_Kingdom_c1f75d7cca85dc4b4820 premium_1d0cabf1997104fd727039ab9c098192VI Repulse, which is one of the rewards at the Dockyard.
  • The first combat mission group can only be completed playing flag_United_Kingdom_c1f75d7cca85dc4b4820 premium_1d0cabf1997104fd727039ab9c098192VI Repulse.
  • Completing the 18th shipbuilding phase will reward you with flag_United_Kingdom_c1f75d7cca85dc4b4820 premium_1d0cabf1997104fd727039ab9c098192VI Repulse in the Snow and Stars permanent camouflage, a 6-skill-point Commander, and a Port slot.
  • Yes, this update will be a long one, to give everybody enough time to collect all gifts and rewards, so yes, 0.10.11 will last for 6 weeks.

So the missing information is how many shipbuilding phases will we get per week.

If we get 3 shipbuilding phases per week, we get Repulse at the end of the Update. So if you dont buy a Starter pack you cant participate in the New Year fleet Event..........sad but true?

This is what they did last year with the Strasbourg. You had like one week to grind out a ridiculous amount of combat missions/stages, it was basically not doable (without Puerto Rico levels of grinding) if you didn't get the Strasbourg faster than it would have become available without spending doubloons.

Your information about the Strassbourg is correct and I will do the same this year with the Repulse by buying her upfront. Benefit will be a credit compensation when finishing stage 18 and obtaining the Repulse for the 2nd time.

Sad but true you do need to buy her to keep up with the missions if you want all permanent camo's.

Good luck grinding, mate!

Thinking of the new communication standards.....wouldn't ist be nice to tell everybody that this part of the new year event is an "Buy-In" event?

Yeah, I have trouble getting worked up about this... a bunch of tech tree tier 5s and their permacamos are like the dictionary definition of "not worth doubloons".

Tbh I can't remember if it was grindy... I paid 0 and got the Strasbourg, though (an utterly bad ship, of course, like most "free" ships).

Yup, seems this year we cannot buy the ship directly, only through paying 18 dockyard stages.

The Strasbourg was easy to get for free. The missions that required the Strasbourg were not easy to do unless you splurged doubloons and got it early.

PLS, this is not a about "worth it".

If we get a WG Clarification like: "Dear Community, if you buy shipbuilding stages or buy the repulse early then you can participate in an little extra Event: The New Year Fleet Event"

an THEN we can discus about "worth it"

Have they really confirmed it anywhere? Because I don't believe they would miss out on directly monetizing a historical ship. At least the admiral bundle.

Huh? That opinion is not confirmed by my own experience. There were missions that were time consuming or difficult to do in time (especially those involving Base XP), around two thirds of the chain towards the Strasbourg IIRC (easier before and after), but in the end, I managed to get all of the free stuff comfortably before the event's end, I had some days left. I did not use doubloons.

Not only last year its the same every year, you can either pay early for the ship, usually full price or even more via dockyard and have a relaxed harvest of some prizes or you can go full F2P BUT in return you got a frenzy at the other end...

Fair enough... The reason why I wrote last year is that that is my only earlier year with the game (started in late spring 2020). Interesting to know this was the same every year.

so, to buy 18 stages of dockyard of mediocre t9 ship, to get mediocre t6 ship to grind some t5 perma camos to some mediocre t5 techtree ships is the definition of "not worth it"

For the dockyard we have 2 full patches. So in total 6+4 weeks for 27 phases that can be grinded. Maybe we have some more time for the final set and the last week won’t be in a rush ( since the difficulty of the missions always seem to go up the further we get ). But I guess that after 2 weeks into patch 10.11 ( when the mission chain starts) you might sit at phase 8-10? So if you buy a whole 11 bonus phases you will have the Repulse in time. If you buy the minimum of 5 DY phases you might have a good week to farm. If you go cheap it will depend on how fast you might finish that weeks missions to get the phases to unlock Repulse in time if even possible.

As plus the best reward is after the first set with a T8 permanent camo. And how I interpret the message is that you, like in earlier events like this, can do some initial parts of the chain but only need Repulse to play just one battle to unlock the 2nd part of the chain and receive the final reward of the first part ( the T8 permanent camo). So if you go “ wallet closed” you must grind hard to unlock the Repulse and use the finale days of patch 10.11 to get atleast the reward of the first mission and forgo the other smaller rewards like the T5’s. ( or completely skip sleep and grind and go full Porto Rico grind…)

Are you sure as this seems not very logical on the part of WeeGee? They will miss out a lot of Euro's, Yen, Pound Sterling and other currencies for not selling the ship upfront.

Mehhh, that sucks........

Well, no permanent camouflage chasing by me then.

Tyvm for giving me that update, it is very much appreciated.

The Repulse would be priced around 7,000 dubloons, based upon the current tier VI vessels and WeeGee would be handing out 3*1,000 dubs in permanent camouflages, excluding the credit compensation at stage 18. They are really going to decline a lot of Euro's from players who want only the Repulse for those f*cking camo's.
