Hello. I have been playing since open beta and i have stopped now since subs were introduced in to game, i was wondering are they still in randoms after updates and if yes, then how often do you see them in randoms?

And is it even worth to reinstall?

think htey are.. only seen one this week , if that was your reason for stoping then i guess go for it, but such a small trivial part i have to suspect there was deeper issues.

What can be deeper then this utterly ABSURD, IDIOTIC, GAME BREAKING STUPIDITY THEN SUBMARINES.

Rarely - thankfully - at the moment, but they are there; I think the chances of them not getting a full introduction are zero, unfortunately.

Assuming their full introduction involves a spike in numbers, then I'll probably take a month or two off from the game. Their present levels are almost tolerable (it's no worse than Detonation, say), but at 'new line' levels, it'll be time to play something else for a bit (unless there is at least one sub-free mode somewhere).

They're in every game now - 4 or 5 on each team.

And the homing torps can spot as well.

We're doomed!

They still are in the game as far as I know because rentals are still a thing. Also, they are already ninja released in the game, all that is missing is tech trees. So reinstalling is at your own discretion ^^

So @Fonfalkshas taken your avatar's advice, there is some wisdom in that.

I  find Subs not that strong nor a problem in random. At least tier 6 and tier 8 aren't a problem.

Don't know why people have such a problem with them. I find CV's a much bigger problem. Especially the spotting they can do have ruined a lot of planes/strategies I had in game. A CV can create a problem for multiple ships at the same moment. A sub can only be a problem for 1 ship at a time.

Also an island can nullify a sub as a problem. Island aren't really a problem for CVs. Especially the fact a CV can drop his/her torps form high altitude.

And of course AA is in many cases useless.

There is always a big release in the Jan patch.

WG hoped that subs would be ready for Jan this year but they were not so that is why we got the captain rework rushed in without proper testing.

so I fully expect subs release Jan 2022 or else it will be superships in randoms

Yep still in game, but not all modes,  homing torps remains by far the biggest bug bear, if WG did away with them I think subs would be widely accepted.

I play u69 once or twice a week, tried the higher tier ones= no thanks.

Just played a co op in Napoli with a T10 Sub? He got just 69 points, because myself and Yoshino charged into the cap and blapped everything.

I do think there’s a place for subs but in sub specific modes (convoys etc),  like the convoy mode we had a few months ago but defenders (surface ships), vs Subs and maybe raiders (bb’s).

WG have invested a lot of time, money and effort into subs so they won’t pull the plug but will they have the sense to do the right thing; separate modes, let us chose if we want to see/play/play against subs.

Subs are still there. They appear not often though. It seems that people are already tired playing them.

If you face subs, it is most of the time a bad experience. Either they do nothing useful and just waste a slot, prolong games unnecessarily, or they make trouble by using up your repairs etc...

I also hat a couple of games with 2 subs and 1 CV each team. This is really horrible. I hope WG will not allow such matchmaking in the future. CV spots you, you get pinged from nowhere without any way to counter this.

Still in game, higher tiers in particular are bad.

It looks like they're here to stay, and it's bad.

Agreed about the homing torps and the badly implemented counter measure (dam con).

Today in Georgia I got pinged, so used Dam Con & turned but still all the damn torps hit.

So :etc_swear:it. My Georgia also has one dumb @$$ guided torpedo - itself. Popped the speed boost while screaming RAMMING SPEED.

Well at least I took something down and I wouldn't be pinged anymore.

Maybe homing pings should be restricted to targeting subs only where your aim has to take into account depth, not just bearing.

Sub players in co-op getting low scores is quite common. Maybe it's the first time they've tried them.

Only today, in a T6 co-op match, did I see a sub player top the scoreboard.

The convoy mode would have been a perfect environment for subs or a new Operation/Scenario based on how subs were actually used.

The fleet vs fleet style engagements of co-op & random matches does not suit submarines at all.

Can you imagine what would have happened, in real life, to a destroyer that tried to depth charge a sub with its fleet nearby?

It's life span would have been measured in minutes.

They are significantly less frustrating to play against. Though imho they should reduce the homing torp damage to CV torps level. It would be fine then.

Man, after all these years playing against Carriers and their broken plane spotting, people whining over subs are so strange to me. They aren't that effective or annoying, and can be avoided really easily. (tip, sail on a flank covered by one of the myriad of DDs, Subs start always in the middle, and most of the times cant be bothered to choose a flank)

Yeah, ill pass. This game is probably dead for me, maybe will check in few months again. It boggles my mind how game developers can destroy their own game with such eager tenacity.

Will prob be worse by then if they get introduced into the tech tree and not as rentals.

They have been nerfed, so at the moment numbers are down because the kind of griefer who plays submarines has to work for damage.

They've wasted two years of development effort to making maps for the undersea World. They are not going to have the moral courage to give that up.

I expect another round of Buffs for submarines followed by another jump in play.

I read this page from WG saying something like

We don't balance based on ship popularity.

:cap_haloween::cap_haloween:

So clearly any buffs coming now must be because they "underperform"...

Very much this, I'm afraid.

Although there is a way for Wargaming to scrap subs and still put their new underwater world to good use. They could set their super-talented design team to work on creating new and improved underwater sinking animations, and make it possible for players who have been sunk to zoom around the underwater environment in free-camera mode. Aside from watching the sinking ships slowly settling into the seabed - which would be totally worth it all on its own - there could be lots and lots of other nice stuff down there, such as the historically correct wreck of the Bismarck, and the cyclopean city of R'Lyeh, and whatnot. It could be super cool!

On another note, this thread should probably be moved to the thread for general submarine-related discussions?

The sad truth of the matter is that subs are even more mind-numblingly boring to play than CV:s. It's a horrible form of gameplay for an otherwise fast-paced arcade game based on player vs. player interaction. Aside from the homing torpedo harassment subs don't really interact with other ship classes, and Wargaming's effort to make them more arcadey by giving them ludicroulsy high underwater speeds has accomplished nothing other than to make them even more removed from proper gameplay (since they can now run away and hide more easily). It's a shambles.

I hope you are wrong but I fear you are right.

Oh don’t worry WG will do as they always do; go against what the player base say and want, they’ll buff them, put out a few premiums that’ll be priced enticingly (naturally the Soviet sub will be op), and noobs will pick them up in droves.

Homing torpedo will be introduced to surface ship(s) soon, glances to Forrest Sherman

A convoy mode would also open the door for ASW corvettes/frigate, small(er) units with comparatively heavy ASW armament but much weeker surface combant armament.

Destroyer would eat those in "Random" alive, but in an "Convoy" mode they possibly can shine, when they only would face Subs

The T10 Soviet sub will be OP AF. Homing torps from 20 kms, sonar with 10 km range, and covered in 75 mm plate. Can't wait to see it join the Krem, Petra, and other examples of great Russian balanz!
