What are your personal favourite T8+ ships & why?

What are your personal favourite tier 8 to 10 ships & why? It would be interesting to see if there are favourite ship trends (or not). All comments are welcome. Well, not all. We don't need no negatives - make a new topic for 'that'.

As I have gone up the tiers I have fewer ships in the higher tiers, however, I do have favourite ships;

One most favourite;

Hipper: My ship with my best Cpt & I like it. Powercrept now, I suppose, & has it's weaknesses but also some pluses. I call it the 'Wolfhound', as it can harass really really well, so long as it survives.

Three honourable mentions;

Monarch: For some reason, I get decent results (for me) with it.

Shimikaze: My one T10 DD & I do like Ijn stealth & those long range torps (plus it's guns when useful).

Montana: I don't mind the high tier US BB play.

Because she's way more useful and capable than what the playerbase credits her for. I know I brawled 2 Yamatos and killed them both with her

Amagi

Everything I said for Izumo + she's more mobile + my current damage record is on her

Kitakaze

She's the destroyer that feels right. You know the ship is capable of everything when you play her and it is very relaxing

Moskva

She carried me in Gold at arguably the hardest season of new ranked, which was the first ever one when the time to rank up was 1 week.

Marceau

Especially at Grand Battle mode dakka dakka with her is so satisfying, she's very commander skill hungry and I don't have all the necessary stuff so I struggle on randoms tho

Vampire II

Because I grinded hard for her and there's so many valid ways of building/playing the ship.

Kaga B

Because I paid for her last year + Azur Lane

Georgia

She's just unique, waifu, and pure fun + my previous damage record is on her

Baltimore

Everything I said for Kitakaze but for a cruiser

Jack of all trades, master of all.

T VIII - Cossack - Maybe tier for tier the best DD in game. (honorable mention: Harekaze, Lightning)

 

T IX - Benham - Broken, need I say more? (honorable mention: Fletcher, Jutland )

 

T X - Halland - She has guns, torps and good heal. If she had smoke she would be massively OP. (honorable mention: Vampire II and the Grozovoi just because I like her)

T8 DD - Cossack and HSF Harekaze 1 (Both are very versatile ships that can adjust to various situations, one has hard hitting and a lot of guns with the best DD toolkit in the game, other has Akizuki guns, with Kagero torps and conceal)

T9 DD - I like all of them, no favorites here, but if you insist, then ig Kita or ZF-6

T10 DD - Z-52/Elbing (Former I like for its versatility and cap dominance, second I like simply becoz its one of the few DDs that can fight a cruiser head to head, and can also prove a big instantaneous threat as you never see Elbing torps coming, and 4-6k chunks every 5 secs isn't exactly weak)

 

T8 BB - Kii (its a japanese Tirpitz, Decent armor, lots of 16 inch guns, torps, secondaries, AA, and improved credit earning with kobayashi camo)

T9 BB - Fredrich Der Grosse (rapid firing and quick response 16 inchers, secondaries, decent kiting angles, german hydro, armor, and good HP. Its underrated, and hence nobody usually cares about it, so even greater advantage)

T10 BB - Cristoforo Columbo (high alpha, consistent shell scenario requirements aka you can't just spam one ammo and unlock the full potential of this ship, 360 turrets, fuel smoke, decent conceal, good survivability apart from limited HP pool)

 

T8 CA - Prinz Eugen (hard hitting AP, heal, German hydro, good armor, decent conceal, yolo torps, German HE pen, decent AA, overall versatility)

T9 CA - Riga (very tanky, good AP performance, and decent utility, what's not to love?)

T10 CA - Hindenburg/Des Moines (former is a great damage farmer with HE pen and AP alpha with decent tankiness, latter is a high utility cruiser with high DPM and AP improved angles, both are amazing and good for meta)

 

T8 CL - Pyotr Bagration (a very survivable, high speed, well concealed light cruiser with good ballistics, and good AP, plus a heal. More medium cruiser tbh, and great for ambushing)

T9 CL - Dmitri Donskoi (long range HE spammer, great gun platform in general)

T10 CL - Plymouth (high alpha, high utility, AP only cruiser, really like it)

 

T8 CV - Graf Zeppelin (its fun, as a secondary platform, and its torp and AP bombers aren't too bad)

T10 CV - MvR (AP focus on attacks, requires high positioning and skill, potential sec meme, stupidly tanky for a CV)

Favourites across three tiers? Okay. 

 

T8 Roma - earns money

T8 Kidd - wins games

T8 Richelieu - best battleship

T9 Tashkent - shoot everything for 20 minutes

T9 Carnot - speed along the flanks and smash things with AP

T9 Iowa - fast, accurate, beautiful and real

T10 Republiqué - less nice than the Richelieu because of tier BUT shooting the guns sounds like the apocalypse

T10 Venezia - because at least one cruiser in the game is okay

T10 Shimakaze - the 20km torp hits of maximum hilarity

Tirpitz, torps, good armour, and excellent handling.

Atago: excellent guns and torps, good armor for a cruiser, heal

Asashio: feels like seal clubbing, even if you get uptiered with her.

T9:

Georgia: speed and guns

Siegfried: torps and guns and tankiness

Yugumo: reload booster fun

T10:

Yamato: legendary module and history

Zao: Queen of kiting

Shimakaze: concealement, torps, guns alpha.

Hakuryu: torp planes

Why ?;  all are competent at handling themselves and very efficient at dealing damage, I like to play as a open sea raider and don’t like boring static spamming play by the side of an island.

T8, Atago, my first premium and still viable after all these years. Was too high in tier for my skill level when first bought and I failed hard…I continued low tiers and learned to use her correctly.

 

T9. Tie of between JB and Georgia. Alaska is high on my list as well.

 

T10. Thunderer and Bourgogne. For some reason Ohio does not tick that well even if Georgia is my T9 favorite.

 

CV’s and DD’s are just not my thing.

T9, Pommern, need I say more? Tashkent a close second, guns go brrrrrrrrrrr

T10, used to be Minotaur or Smolensk, then Deadeye happened so I went to Daring, and then CV's just got ridiculous, FDR and MVR I am looking at you two, so got the Halland to farm CV tears. Used to be a cruiser main, now I am a DD main. usually found in one of the French T10 DD's.

T9 Cruiser: Kronstadt + Alaska / BB: Georgia / DD: ZF6

 

T10 Cruiser: DesMo / BB: Republic / DD: Vampire2 + Daring

Lightning, Cossack, Jutland, Daring, Shimakaze, Minotaur, Des Moines, Missouri, Yamato and Thunderer.

 

I love the British DDs for their ability to contest caps, Shimakaze is just a lot of fun. Cruisers it’s rate of fire. Thunderer is for me at least the most beautiful ship in game. Yamato was my first tier 10 and Missouri just because I love playing her way to aggressively and it really seems to shock people.

Although there's a good chance the answer will be different tomorrow, something like this:

• Tier 8: it might be Orkan, oddly, although run a close second by things like Cossack, Harekaze, and Kidd.
• Tier 9: probably Neustra, although Jutland, Yugumo, and Benham aren't far behind.
• Tier 10: Smaland/Vampire II are probably equal No. 1, although I have more games on the former. Daring/Halland aren't far behind, and I'll always have a soft spot for Groz - she was my first ever T10.

T8 - Odin - so fun when you get in a knife fight.

T9 - Bajie - because it's fun to citadel CVs from across the map in the first half of the game. 
T10 - Thunderer - bow in and i'll burn you, broadside and i'll dev-strike you. What's not to like? 

I like the Edinburgh, Seattle, Minotaur and Yoshino a low as well, but those three above are top of my list in their tier.

Shokaku - haven't played her in a while, but I won't forget my 1st Solo Warrior, which was also the 1st replay I ever uploaded

Bismarck - one of the few tech tree T8s I still play from time to time

Oland - very versatile, clear overperformer for me but without the mild sense of guilt I feel from playing Smaland

 

T9:

Ibuki - an underperformer for me, but just very comfortable: and very satisfying when you land torps while kiting

Georgia - not as clutch as the JB, but a fun ship nevertheless, with all the gimmicks

Alaska - very adaptable in Ranked

Udaloi/Mogador/Tashkent - great fun with the "look at me! over here!" playstyle: it's liberating to play a DD that doesn't feel it has to contest caps
Jean Bart - outstanding ambush predator, holds several of my records

Chung Mu (smoke) - torpedo build, very comfortable: it

 

T10:

Shikishima - the apex predator of the Dead Eye meta: some duels with enemy Thunderers (back when there were 3 per team) were just epic.

Salem - hard to play in the opening, but a strong ship for carrying. Even if you're caught in a bad spot, she has the DPM to take anyone with her

Alexander Nevsky - that range, those ballistics...it's like when you dream you're a giant that can leap over buildings in one stride

Colbert - after a ghastly start, I changed build twice, setting on a short-range lighthouse: she's hilarious, and very rewarding

Marceau - just an exciting ship: she can murder DDs and go after CVs like few others, and generally be all over the place

UU Kléber - unique experience, surprisingly competitive so far...

République - she worked well with a full secondary build, she works well as a sniper

 

There are few T8s in the list, mostly because there are no T8 freemiums and the many T8 premiums are a bit too expensive for my taste (unless they're from the Dockyard...)

T8 -

- Lenin cause it's a bloody floating fortress. With very good guns. Great mid to close range BB. 

- Orkan having good results in battles and overall understanding the ship very well. 

- Massachusetts. This one I don't need to introduce.

- Alabama and NC. Even though Massa exists i still get good results on those. Similar gameplay but on Alabama that feels more agile it's easier to avoid enemy fire and good torp protection. NC better accuracy + much better healing capacity.

- Kaga cause it's the easiest CV to play. Not as strong as Enterprise or Chkalov but still great and fun. Not for the other side though....

- GZ cause it's a challenge to play and prove yourself on it. And sometimes the secondaries are hilarious. 

- LoYang cause it's still a great hydro DD in it's tier. Fun to play in close range combat. Especially with the faster torps.

- Atago. Still having fun on it with the torps and good guns and agility + heal. 

- LeTerrible . And I have no idea why I like it so much. 

 

 

T9 -

- Bajie cause it's very comfortable to play with great accuracy, range and shell velocity. 

- Riga (yes) and I'm having a great fun on it. People many times consider it meh and ignore it. And they regret their decision.

- Kronshtadt cause.... Idk it's not frustrating to me. Maybe sometimes. But mostly I do well playing it. 

- Neustrashimy cause that heal and concealment combination together with a not bad torps that hit hard and reload in ok time when you build it as one. 

- Georgia cause.... It's obvious. Crazy fast BB with good secondaries and heal. And guns but those sometimes are weird. 

- Udaloi cause it's a great package of guns, torps and utility. Downside - concealment on A hull is better (6.8km) than B hull (7.2km) which doesn't make sense. It was the case in the past with some ships having different concealment parameters per hull (i believe Fuso was one of such). But today Udaloi would be better matching the line with 6.8km. it won't be OP or have breaking. Buy with this concealment it makes it hard to get closer even against T7s... Still I like it and I hope one day they'll fix it. 

- Drake. One of the most underrated ships at T9. It's much better than T8 cause it doesn't explode on sight and has the 234mm which can overmatch T7 cruisers... Something that many forget about. 

- Paulo Emilio. The apogeum of fun and craziness. But sometimes the MM gives you lemons (hydro BBs and radars...)

 

T10 -

 

- Ohio. Fun to play and effective. Still best ship in RB to get. 

- Napoli. Playing it it's pure craziness and fun with secondaries and armour. 

- Vampire II. Amazing cap contester and close range fighter with crawling smoke. 

- DM. With legendary. Amazing amount of fun. 

- Mino with a lot of utility and being great in most situations. 

- Daring. Same as Vampire but being more mobile. 

- Bourgogne. I jest unlocked it by steel and I played only 1 battle and I really like it. 

- Midway cause it's the most reliable CV on its tier. Using the legendary module the bombs are smashing.

T 10 Bourgogne this BB have CL Fell and nice secondaries, Yamato, and Grosser Kurfürst hard hitting

T8: Massa. It is a SODAK, Secondaries are great fun and it is kinda OP when top tier

T9: Jutland. Georgia. Jutland is very strong when played correctly. Georgia is great fun. Guns are accurate (most of the time) and hard hitting. You can race DDs. + Secondary fun.

T10: Daring. It's the big brother of Jutland. + Minotaur. Smoke Dakka + the fear of getting insta blapped any time is fun.

T8: Cossack and Lightning 

T9: dunno, no ship really rocks for me at this tier 

T10: Vampire II, Daring and perhaps Plymouth, I haven't played here enough yet

T8 - Hard choice between Bismarck, Lightning, Hipper, Cossack, Le Fantasque… just because they are all fun. 
T9 - Georgia: 40knot bb…. Mogador close second. 
T10 - Hindenburg: you can play this ship how you want and it will do ok, fun forgiving T10 for newbies and seems still competitive for vets. I think Kleber will be here too when I get it.

Don't have many High tiers yet, but at Tier 8 I am loving the Cross of Dorn (Mainz), Massa B and Tirpitz B

Tier 9: only have the JB B (and FdG Researched but not yet bought)

Bismarck - simply because ...

Tirpitz - a Bismarck with torps

Mogami - the 6" version is still fun to play

Cleveland - loved her at T6 (long time ago), still a good ship at T8
