It seems that the update messed up aiming quite a bit

As per the title. There are a growing number of reports about this.

So...what's happening? Too much strain on the servers? Hamsters are on hunger strike? Can't RNG calculate properly? Interference with the new mechanics?

Possibly UI scaling? E.g your aim point clientside and the actual aimpoint server side are some way off eachother.

I do notice A LOT of shots falling short even vs. perfect broadsides.

I've noticed the shortfalls again and again. It's tiresome. My only consolation is that the same thing is happening to the reds.

Well...idk. I didn't had any hardware changes. And.. it seems more complicated. The aiming itself is somehow busted. As you know if the target is locked on,  the aiming  seems to be "following" the target. Whereupon now, the target seems to change its position much more easily.

I'm not talking about... "evasive measures". Its like the lock is much more.... loosened. If you lock on to a bot broadsideing and closer,  you will see that the pace at which the aiming line departs from the side of the ship is quite rapid now.

This is very obvious in ops where the bots follow the scripting much more.

I wouldn't be surprised if WG was diddling around with the code again to make aiming at the submarines work - especially at periscope depth you kind of aim 'at' the sub but the aim point must surely shift to take into account that you are aiming at the patch of water above it. Possibly the 'looser' lock on is something to do with it.

The experience of myself and others I div up with has been locking up a target - shooting at the hull or waterline - only for most shots to fall way short. It is almost like the server thinks I'm aiming beneath the ship rather than at the ship.

Same here. I have had a few cases where I'd aim at the ship, and it would drop some tens of yards short.

Yeah this has definitely increased lately. Getting rounds dropping short on broadside targets too, not all the time but a noticeable increase.

Also the other day when i had a sub that was forced to surface fairly close when i fired it destroyed the sub but the rounds looked as though they landed way way behind it..so in that situation they were too long.

Somethings off.

Yeah. That too. This was the first thing I noticed after my second battle. Still what I'm talking about could interfere even with that. If you fire sequential salvo vs full ( double click) salvo, only the first shells will have your intended aim.  And then RNG also kicks in....

That's actually a very good point. Given that you have to aim for that white elliptical thingy on the water....it is very much possible that they try to do all sort of shenanigans in that direction.

Thanks for this thread.

Played a few coop matches at patch day and couldn´t hit a broadside DM at 5,5km in Georgia.

But it think its not only a problem with shells falling short, but sometimes falling too long also.

I really thought something is wrong with my eyes.

I posted on the earlier patch comments thread that I thought the UI scaling was wrong when I first tried to play after 0.10.10 went live. That screwed my aim up completely. It has been better since I got the UI looking right on screen (no faded edges, as if it was being scaled up or down improperly).

No. it is now almost impossible to reliably hit broadsiding cruisers for citadels  With cruisers. In ops.

I have this  since September, perfectly broadside enemy and all shells drop into the water right before him.

Probs release monthly 'Gunnery Lootboxes' Where it gives you the chance of getting anything from a D.I.Y quality Rangefinder to a ancient ultimate multi-dimensional super rare rangefinder that is essentially an aimbot with a chance of 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of getting and then needing 50,000 doubloons to pay for.

Will be released in update 12.02 'The Captains Gift' for £3.00 per box, Stay tuned for more commanders!

So... to add to this already growing list of.... achievements...lets not forget about "the guns don't fire" bug. Because  ofc Wedgie wont admit  that it exists.

BUT IT FRAKKIN DOES!!!

So.... i'm curious when this will...at least attempted, to be fixed?? Coz...ya know...this is after all a.... tactical..... shooter. So it means that you supposed to.... shoot....  ships. NOT just lookin at how beautikful the waves are and how beautikful the ships are ....tossed around by the waves .

Which also means that just sailing around because you cant shoot your....ya know.... the guns has zilch value. To me. OFC to red players is da haven.

I had it too quite few times...I thought was my bad aiming at the beginning bit when the salvo fell short on full broadside at 10km distance I started ti suspect that something was wrong...and now you confirm my suspects.

didn't notice any changes on my own pc but on a friends who also uses different type of crosshair and camera settings the shots usually fall short, I blame it on their dynamic crosshair and camera settings. The aiming is completely off for me and I need to aim higher than I would need on my own PC to make the same shots giving the feeling they fall short on their PC while on mine all is as usual.

Yes - I have had this also....along with the things mentioned by others in this thread.

I first noticed something was wrong when I fired a salvo in my Italian Battleship and a few shells actually hit the target!  :Smile_trollface:
